That's true, and I'm glad that I've never had to worry about that. but the cost of childcare has risen by something like 40% since Covid.

Talking to our QC manager, they were doing great prior.  They have two children, and the cost of child care became an unreasonable expense and now, just isn't an option anymore. They can't afford to live on a single income either so basically, they're screwed.

We've had this conversation with a couple of people we know that work in the service industry as well and they have the same story. They were scraping by before. Now it's just not affordable, period.

That's a pretty big dent in the work force and it shows.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

My wife had a few jobs over the years but was mostly stay at home. The kids are now grown and out of school. I keep telling here since we have three dogs and two cats at home it's not fair of me to be the only one who had a career and that I would gladly stay at home with the fur babies and let her have a career. So far not getting much traction on that idea.

I visit quite a few states on the regular. Most are west of The Rockies. I will say one STARK difference between where I live now (Utah) and where I lived for the previous 53+ years (Kommieforniastan), kids here in Utah... WORK. There's 3 tweens here in the neighborhood that hustle to mow the neighborhood lawns. In the previous 25+ years I could not find a kid that mowed lawns. In the local fast food establishments (read entry level jobs), they are FULL of kids. Now, the results aren't always perfection, but they gotta start somewhere and as long as what I get is mostly what I want, I can live with that. The point being, there's some cultural shit going on and it ain't good for a lot of places.

That 40% increase... somebody's gotta pay for those massive minimum wage hikes for entry level people. That shit ain't for free. And childcare workers... that's always been a lower on the wage scale position. Costs for worker's comp have skyrocketed. Payroll taxes have increased. It's ALL gone up.

The laws of unintended leftist policy consequences are coming home to roost BIG time. And guess what, nobody is gonna put two and two together. They are going to continue to vote with ZERO policy considerations and blame the other team.
