One of the biggest freeways in LA is closed. Average traffic is 300k cars a day

The latest press releases have changed "closed indefinitely" to "closed for 3 to 5 weeks"

Doesn't take a genius to figure out that was a bad idea from the git-go. Gotta be intentional. And the motive is most likely money or a coverup of some kind. Blaming the homeless is too easy.

Yup.. the original lease holder hasn't paid the rent in some time, is in the middle of a court fight with Big Stupid Government  and is sub leasing 5 parcels out in violation of his contract with the city.
 
There was a bunch of pallets being stored as well as a huge cache of hand sanitizer left over from the covid days.
I'm guessing a speculator bought it up thinking he'd make a big score. Now he's stuck with it and can't legally dispose of it, so he insures it and burns it.
If you look at the pre fire google maps photo, you can see a stack of boxes piled all the way up to the bottom of the freeway. I'll bet that's a couple of thousand gallons of nearly pure alcoholic goo that's been baking in the LA heat
for a couple of years. It's  basically high end napalm.
That would make one hell of a fire.

When this first happened the articles I read said that if the columns were cracked and rebar exposed,
they would have to demolish that section of freeway and rebuild.
That definitely looks like it fits the bull.
I guess they are going to fix it on the cheap in the name of political expediency and worry about
it coming down in an earthquake when it happens.

Los Angeles residents have the situation they created. They could have put a mostly intelligent individual in Caruso in the Mayor's Office but they chose an idiot. They could have put a mostly respected Sheriff back in office in Villanueva, but instead chose the Board of Supervisors lap-dog who is choosing to punish an LA County resident CCW holder for defending his life against intruderS outside his home.

Get out of Kommieforniastan while you still can. That window is quickly closing. Probably 2-3 more legislative sessions and they will have the pieces in place to have an exit tax that will be prohibitively expensive for all but the most wealthy.
