Is this possible with the Mastercam Lathe package? I posted this on the Mastercam Forum but didn't have many responses. The YouTube video linked below is what we're trying to accomplish with Mastercam rather then typing a macro. I'm not a lathe guy, so I'm posting this for our turning expert.  Thank you!  -Matt

No

Either a specialized macro or a machine with polygon turning

+1 for Polygon Turning option. ... and they won't be perfect flats. They'll be very close, just not perfect.

The reason you aren't seeing the X-Axis moving in and out quickly is because YouTube limits framerate. You can hear the thudding... that's the X moving in and out.

And you're knocking a decade off the life of your machine.

But they got those $0.30 parts out in one operation didn't they?!  :fun:

The wear and tear on the lathe would also be my biggest concern. I doubt this lathe is gonna last another year anyway and we're hoping to get a multi axis next. We have been slowly retooling the shop and the dividends have been paying off very quickly. If we had a lathe with milling options, we wouldn't care to even address polygon turning.  Thanks all for some valuable insight! -Matt

May as well run it into the scrap pile then. Wouldn't try this on any machine with any sort of lifespan remaining. However if there is a plan in place to replace it then do what ya gotta do to get er done until then.
