Cali, Illinois, and New York to lose a total of 10.

Oregon, NJ, Michigan, Minnesota all losing seats.

Not a single red state projected to lose a congressional seat.

This is from the Brennan Center for Justice. Not exactly a right wing publication.

How could you look at those trends and say that Dems have done well for their constituents?

Fleeing from liberal states. Probably climate change related.

QuoteHigh taxes were the No. 1 reason Illinoisans considered leaving the state. Polling from NPR Illinois and the University of Illinois found 61% of Illinoisans thought about moving out of state in 2019, and the No. 1 reason was taxes. The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute found 47% of Illinoisans wanted to leave the state in 2016. It also found "taxes are the single biggest reason people want to leave," with 27% citing that motive. More recent polling conducted by Echelon Insights in 2023 substantiated these sentiments.

A 10th year of population decline, especially when driven by residents choosing to leave Illinois, should be a wake-up call to the state's leaders.

Can we just give California to the masses leaving before they fuck up other states. And let the 10,000 a day released in this country a California home. Throw in 40 acres and a mule. 😂

Rest assured, the dems are working on implementing the same mail-in-vote-cheats for smaller congressional districts. They will hold/cheat the WH/Senate, and the R control of the house is only temporary. It may take a few election cycles for them to make enough changes to election rules, but they will not stop. I suspect the centralized vote counting that happens in the big cities will expanded to include surrounding suburbs that go red. If they can move that rural vote counting to the metro centers they can magically add enough votes in the middle of the night to flip those districts.

No doubt the democrats are a powerful machine.

Ronald Reagan once said, the problem with government programs is that they poll with popularity. but those polls rarely frame the question in respect to what those programs will cost you out of pocket. Then when people's taxes go up, they wonder what happened.

If someone polled most of us and asked us, "do you think teachers deserve a raise?"

a lot of people might say yes, absolutely. Especially if they are close friends with a teacher.

Now if they asked the question differently they might say "would you being willing to vote for teachers a raise at a rate of a half cent per assessed value of your house?" you might still get a majority of votes.

a lot of people don't realize a half cent per $200,000 is $1000 added to their real estate bill and due right around Christmas.

My father-in-law, who moved out of illinois to Missouri because the cost of living was lower, got ticked when his property taxes went up this year by a significant amount. But he also had just voted to raise property taxes for some new firehouses and ambulance buildings in our county. The vote failed, by I couldn't help but remind him, it would have been even higher if those had passed. Because ,you know, that's just the kind of Son-in-law I am.  ;D

In Kommieforniastan: "Would you...?"

NO!

I pay far too much in taxes already. I pay the highest vehicle registration taxes in the US... for the worst DMV and worst roads in the US.
I pay the most $$$ in property taxes in the US for the 2nd or 3rd worst schools in the US.
I pay the highest fuel taxes in the US... again for the worst roads in the US.

I pay the most for everything and get the worst return on investent for my tax dollars. So, no. NO! Not another damn penny for ANYTHING. You steaming pile of Kommie bovine excrement!

Michigan gained a seat after the last census. At first the demmies had the advantage due to their redistricting but right now the chamber is locked up with an even number of members.
