Toby Keith dies at 62. I was a big fan and thought he was a great American.

Interesting story about Toby. We have a horse racing track here and Toby owned a horse that was racing one Saturday. He came to the track and tried to enter in the high end area of the track. He didn't have a tie on and they didn't recognize him so he was refused entry. He just walked around the track in shorts with his red solo cup.

Definitely by all accounts I have heard, he really was just a regular guy.

That reminds me of the story about Jase Robertson from Duck Dynasty.
They were staying at the Waldorf in New York for some kind of awards show or promo event.
Jase decided to go for a walk around the city, and when he returned, because he was dressed in an old pair of jeans and a well-worn t-shirt, with his scraggly beard and unkempt hair, the hotel staff thought he was a homeless guy.  He asked where the bathroom was, and a staff member led him down several hallways to a side door that led out into an alley.  The staff member wished him good luck and locked the door behind him!

Jase took it in stride and laughed it off, joking later that he was the victim of 'facial profiling'! 

It's nice to know that at least some famous people are regular guys and gals who would sit and have a beer with you.

I wasn't really a fan of his music but everything I'd ever heard of him was that he was a very decent human.

62 is too young.

Wow. What a shock. I didn't know he was sick, but, I'm not a country fan so don't pay much attention to that side of the road. He was a character. Of course, my favorite is "I'll Never Smoke Weed with Willie Again".

Keith was a self described third generation Democrat he told CNN in 2010 and his support of the military had nothing to do with politics.
