You're walking on thin ice here.  He said negative things about Trump so he's dead to Republicans.  :D

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

IMO, even if Trump was not in the picture, McConnel has shown himself to be fully aligned with the big business, globalist agenda. He has sided with the Dems more than not. He's dead to republicans because he no longer stands for limited government conservative values.

Are you sure it's Mitch that has changed?

Hardly. But keep thinking that.

The SCOTUS of my dreams would put Governors AND State Legislators in prison for passing Unconstitutional Legislation in the first place. The SCOTUS of my dreams would ALSO put the whole liberal wing of the 9th Circus Court of Jesters in prison... for life for siding with Governors and AG's on the truckload of unconstitutional laws. THAT woudl be my dreams and brother, Cocaine Mitch doesn't want ANY part of a SCOTUS that will REALLY handle the business of upholding the Constitution like that.

The SCOTUS of my dreams would have worded the Bruen in such a manner as to discourage ANY future firearms legislation/regulation. New Yorkers  STILL cannot conceal carry a firearm. Californians are facing ABSURD CCW rules that will pretty much make a CCW Permit (that is unconstitutional in the first place) nothing more than a VERY expensive peice of regulatory trash. Between the class, the permit, the fees, the Live Scan, etc... it was around $500 every two years IIRC for the privilage or exercising my God given, Constitutionally affirmed right to bear arms.

THAT is my dream court. Cocaine Mitch didn't even come close to delivering my dream.

Any Majority Leader that doesn't butt heads a bit on policy with the CIC regardless of party affiliation is crap.

Quote from: YoDoug on February 29, 2024, 04:55 AMAs evidenced by the new SCOTUS picks constantly siding with the libs. McConnel pushed quasi conservative, big business friendly, globalist SCOTUS picks on Trump.

Right. Would have been better to let Trump pick on his own.

His record of picking administration officials, cabinet members, etc was so spectacular. :coffee:

The thing is, you ALWAYS know how the libs on the court will vote as soon as you hear what the case is about. The conservatives, you can never be 100% sure. They will often surprise you because sometimes interpreting the Constitution means ruling against your political preferences.

Exactly.
He was dead to the Republicans a long time ago; we just couldn't get rid of him.
Not because he was critical of Trump, but because he was deeply entrenched in the corruption of the DC swamp.

ANY politician who has been in Congress for decades, regardless of party, is part of the problem IMO.
Especially when they rise to a position of power, which then becomes their drug of choice.

Whether it's Nancy Pelosi or Mitch McConnell, no difference.

I'm just as glad to see him go as I was when she left.

Yes. The swamp corrupts all who stay long enough.

I never said Trump would pick better if left on his own. I just said McConnel stack the deck with pro-swamp judges.

The only reason I asked, is because in all of the years I've been watching political discussions between EMC and here, I've never seen anyone be this critical of Mitch until he badmouthed Trump.

I think McConnel has slowly sold out in the last decade or two. He has given in to the swamp. The deals he pushes now are horrible for American sovereignty and the American working class. They are all deals that protect big business and globalist mega corps. He can't or won't stop the massive debt increase, that benefits his elite buddies.

Perhaps that was the last straw? Or perhaps in the last 5-8 years he's just gone full blown swamp rat and all the reasons @YoDoug gave.

You are entitled to your opinion, but correlation does not equal causation.

I think Mitch McConnell started out well as a Senator, and did mostly well as both Majority and Minority Leader.
But as Doug said, as time went by I think he gave into the corruption long before Trump showed up on the scene.

That's all ancient history anyway, so all we can do is look forward.

Whoever the new Republican Leader in the Senate is going to be to replace McConnell better hit the ground running and get their act together quickly because November will be here before we know it.

That's not an opinion and I'm not trying to be argumentative. I'm just telling you what I witnessed with my own eyes on the forum. Maybe everyone was badmouthing him secretly behind closed doors?

I hated Mitch long before I saw the Republican wrath come down on him but probably for different reasons. I thought he was a lying hypocrite.
