If it's a clear day, I'll take trip north to experience the totality.

From those who have experienced it, they say it's quite magical and worth doing at least one in your lifetime.

Yea, my boy is 3. I'd love to take him, and see it myself as we're about 45 minutes north of totality. But he will take off those glasses instantly, lol, and I'll have a blind toddler - and a pissed off wife.

I have a pair of solar glasses with proper rating (ISO 12312-2). My sister had an extra pair and gave them to me.

OK... I'm not looking directly at the sun, rated glasses or not.

But hey, have at it.

Even the slightest risk to my eyes ain't worth it.

Several counties are declaring a state of emergency for that day ahead of time.

Gee, I wonder why.
Anyone care to guess how much the gov't will spend on federal funds for all of these "emergencies"?

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

I saw some hotel around there was $1400/night, with a 3 night minimum.

I'm heading down to the daughter's in Bloomington. If I watch her three tiny terrorists for a couple hours, she'll probably let me stay for free.

I checked Cleveland hotels to see if they've gone up any more; they're still $250 to $450.
