Or the socialist Nazi's in germany.
that's why.
Our life depends on it.

LOL, are you really saying that worrying about ultra rich people manipulating housing markets so they own and control all property is going to cause the next great genocide/tyranny.

Quote from: neurosis on April 18, 2024, 12:21 PMYou keep saying commie, but it's not just the left that sees this as a problem. When people can't afford their rent anymore, someone is going to have to subsidize housing.  I thought that you were anti-commie?
only a commie would say the only solution is subsidies, unless you're just being a sarcastic antagonist.  ;D  ;D  Not paying the rent would be the free market speaking

No, I was answering Neuro, aside from this hypothetical issue.

I'll posit that the next great genocide/tyranny in the US could be related to a few things; jabs, gun ownership, or even possibly property ownership.

NEVER underestimate the rage that envy can produce. There's 81,000,000 voters in this nation that believe wealth is a zero sum game. For the uninitiated that means because I have $x,xxx, xxx that means you can only have $xxx, xxx. This is nothing more than pure classist bullshit.

Out of curiosity, what was the median house cost to income ratio when you were in your 30's compared to now?

The price of gas (in Kommieforniastan) when Instarted driving in 1988 was $1.02/gal for 92 Octane. Today it's over $5 in most places there. In my home state of Utah it's around $4 depending.

The last house I the PRK I owned... probably would have cost $300k in my 30's.. When I sold it last year it was $1.015m.

So using an inflation calculator, could you afford that house now if you were making the same income adjusted for inflation, in your 30's?

I don't see how you could figure that with the appreciation of his home over 30 years. You would have to compound the value plus his salary by inflation percentage for each year. Of course I could be wrong.

It's pretty simple. Figure out what you were making in your 30's.  Use the calculator to figure out what that would be in todays dollars. Then figure out if you could afford that house now. Or any house for that matter.

Using the inflation calculator isn't even fair because wages haven't kept up with inflation.

Well I was told that math wouldn't be involved.
