My wife was talking to her mother in law's doctor last night
You can't go see a doctor these days.. it's phone calls only.
He is a resident doctor at a couple of local hospitals.
He said incoming patients sometimes wait in their ambulance 6 to 10 hours to get into the waiting room.
He said there is a new strain of CV-19 showing up that they have no treatment for.
Nothing they do works.. the patients either get better on their own.... or they die

I don't recall there being an MMR (combined) vaccine when I was a kid, but I could totally be wrong.

I only recall knowing 1 person that got measles when I was a kid. Other than the recent (within the last 5-10 years) outbreaks, I still only ever knew one person that got it. I do know of a few families that chose not to vaccinate their kids. I don't have a problem with it. Their body, their choice.

Best I can recall based on conversations with my mom, I got the Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Polio, Measles, Mumps, and Rubella vaccines. My mom said I did not get them all at the same time. That is something that is different than how they do it today.

When we got our kids vaccinated, we scheduled the types separately (except for MMR... can't get that one separately, or so they said unfortunately), about a month or so apart IIRC. Doctors office wasn't too pleased. Fuck them. They don't have to live or suffer with any of the consequences should the kids have any of the rare adverse reactions, WE do. And since Doctors and the pharmaceutical companies are immune from any adverse outcomes, WE decide. NOT them.

I think people for the most part have ceded control over their lives to government and doctors. Sure, doctors have spent years studying, and practicing, which does count for something, but, let's not forget, they are fallible human beings just like the rest of us. At one time the National MD's Association proclaimed smoking was healthy among other insane things. One would hope they would not err in such an egregious manner today, but, it's on us to do our due diligence. Doctors and government are susceptible to monetary considerations, intra-governmental pressures and other things we can't even imagine. That should ALWAYS be in the back of our minds when we are considering healthcare options and recommendations.

Our whole society is based on specialists, and handing trust and control to them.  Modern life is far too complex for one person to be proficient in all things.

The police, who are violent force specialists, are beginning to rely on other specialists for non-violent matters:

That program looks like a really good idea. I would think the police would welcome the option of calling non violent specialists in to handle situations like that.

Really wouldn't the cops who pepper sprayed a little girl who was acting like a panicked little girl rather have called a unit like that to handle it?

Depends on the cop.  Some enjoy the feeling of power they get from harming others, that's why they joined up.  I've known a few.

I'm sure there are a certain percentage of sadists on the police force.

In the case I referred to it seemed the cops just ran out of patience and they did what they are trained to do. Subdue the perpetrator and get them to the jail.

On that case , either way they were wrong. I'm not absolving them, same goes for the Kid on the playground they shot. with a toy.

In my complex we have a kid (30's ) with issues . Cops come out get him sitting ,Call his dad his dad shows up gets him Calm.

Everyone sleeps in their own bed.

I give the Cops Props for what I saw.

Bullshit! People are lazy and choose to let others rule their lives. Screw that. "Far too complex" my ass. That's a cop out plain and simple.

Free Fiss. :coffee:

In ALL the discussions about Law Enforcement this fact is NEVER brought up. A department IS a company in every sense of the meaning. Some how, for some reason, that fact that there are bad employees in every single company, it never gets talked about. Perhaps it's a little too inconvenient because perhaps it hits a little too close to home and we prefer to not address it, so if we ignore it, it's not truth.
Even in the highest performing positions on the planet that require excellence to even be considered, there are bad people there. There are bad SEALs, bad Green Berets, bad Delta Force guys, bad Firefighters, bad machinists, bad setup guys, bad janitors, bad Astronauts, etc..., etc..., etc... ad infinutum. You will never get rid of all of them. Ever. :cough: there is a Bell Curve in EVERYTHING :cough:

Until we are willing to excise every last bad employee from among our own ranks... it is pure hypocrisy to expect other organizations to do so. And the "...but they have the power to kill..." is a bullshit excuse. Machines kill - .6 per 100,000 according to the latest statistics so there's that.
