In my late teens, I saw the Alex Jones cameo in the movie Waking Life. It was a wild rant about politics and the world, and a perspective I had never heard before - coming from a very left-leaning family in Canada. It was just after I saw Loose Change for the first time too, and learned that questioning the 'official' story was even a thing that people did. I went down a rabbit hole for many years, getting deeper into the weeds of shadow governance, world banking, social control, media spin, etc. Listened to Infowars daily for a long time at work until it got to be the same thing every day:

"RED FUCKING ALERT - COMMUNISTS KILLING THE BABY JESUS AT CHURCH WHILE SATAN LAUGHS AND FINGERS ABORTED FETUSES, LINKED TO THE ROTHSCHILD'S TENT CITY ALLOWING ILLEGAL MIGRANTS TO CAUSE SCHOOL SHOOTINGS"

A bit exaggerated? Sure, but it was an emergency every single day and he got to be a cult of personality for the right, and then a target, and then fell hard. Similar pressures to Jordan Peterson, but Alex lasted longer under the microscope until he went crazy.

I'm glad I had the experience of hearing a different viewpoint, and all of the information I have to make connections between the events we see around us. It was certainly an exercise in critical thinking, and gave me the ability to digest the story from both sides of the spectrum to try and decipher the truth. That last part is getting harder and harder now, though, and it's hard to say that it's not by design...

Anyone up on the Dead Internet theories?

My default is they've lied about everything!

Yea. Anything we're shown is manipulated and distorted. The amount of effort it takes to form an unbaised opinion has risen drastically in the past 5 years.

The old "believe nothing you see, and half of what you hear" is dead and gone, now it's just nothing with a side of nothing sauce. Fake audio, fake video, fake pictures, fake interactions, fake relationships. I welcome the EMP.

Add to that I do think we're being purposefully inundated with information noise online, and generative AI models are going to knowingly be used to push human-authored writing off the web. Bots are already over 51% of all internet traffic, and 28% of clicks - according to Google themselves, which is scary to admit. They are even talking about an 'inversion point' where bots watch more videos per day than humans in the near future. Like 2025 near future.
