There's a reason for that age limit, mkay?  :harhar:

I honestly have never heard of him either, but as Bucky said, most of us here are older than dirt.

One thing I do see is when my grandkids (8,11, & 13) come over to my house, they can sit in front of the tv for hours on end watching videos of people playing 'Minecraft'.

To me it's mind-numbingly stupid, and super annoying when the people are SCREAMING as they play.
9 times out of 10 I tell the kids to turn down the volume or I will turn it off completely.

If that makes me a grumpy old grandpa, then I will own that!

Some gaming videos are mind numbingly dumb. But I have to say watching people play video games was a huge part of my childhood. I fully believe the countless hours on YT helped build my problem solving skills and turned me into a quick learner.

Around 1776 the average life expectancy was between 38 and 44.

Today it's between say 70 and 75.

One could argue they should put it up to at least 55 today. Today's 35 year-old is still a child in terms of real world experience compared to when our nation was founded. That's probably not going to sit well, but too bad. I said it. I meant it.

I concur.
I know some immature 50 year-olds I wouldn't trust to mow my lawn, much less be POTUS.   :harhar:

All I had was hide and seek, kickball, tetherball, softball, baseball, bicycling, football, hunting, fishing, and other stuff like that.

And those spinning rides you got flung off of.

And I agree, sports and being outdoors in general should be a high priority for a kid. All I'm saying is watching someone play a video game isn't as brain-rotting as some people think

My elementary school had a merry go round on an asphalt playground. I got thrown off once and knocked me clean out.
Once, the neighborhood kids were playing ball tag. Another kid and I dove for the ball at the same time. Knocked my two front teeth out. I kind of wish I had been playing video games then.

Pong didn't come around until my late teens at the earliest.

That's earlier than I thought. I don't remember seeing video games until I joined the military.

Just gonna drop this here. If you have the time (lord knows some of you ol' boys do) it remains the best "History of Video Games" I have ever seen. Starting with the university mainframes in the 50s/60s and earlier. Essentially as long as the computer has had a screen, and before even, the boys have played games. Cool to see the lineage and growth of the medium, and I love foundational history - makes you appreciate where we are now.
