I think that forum title/description "a less moderated forum" didn't really come across as intended.  It meant that this is a place that you could come and discuss things that were censored or considered taboo on EMC. It didn't mean that this is going to become a wild west free for all forum where you could feel free to shit all over people you disagree with.  Even the intent of the Outhouse was to post things that may not be everyone's cup of tea (bikini photos etc) - not platform for personal attacks.

It's not the profanity driving people away. It's the meanness, disrespect and personal attacks. It seems like over here some people's true personalities have come through and it's not always a pretty sight. There is enough negativity in the world without actively seeking it out.

I was a hair's breadth away from asking my account to be closed. A friend suggested things might calm down in a couple of days since the election is behind us so I'm still here.

Lots of places have penalties for people who launch personal attacks on others. I've got no problem with that. I expect just about nobody else does either.

As one of our really nasty members says, if he goes too far the mods will let him know about it. So what's too far?

I expect we have some excellent examples of what too far is so let's use them. 3 strikes you're out. What you're out means I'll leave to others.

Yeah yeah, a bunch of people (especially radical righties) are going to point at me and say I'm the problem but I think anything I've said that could be regarded as a personal attack has been in a response to somebody else and curiously enough a bunch of the radical righties who are outraged by me probably think the initial comments were funny. Go figure. :rollleyes:

Does that make it right? Naw, probably not. Is it immature? Absolutely, by both participants. But turning the other cheek doesn't work very well either.

The bottom line is as long as any guidelines are enforced in an unbiased manner by unbiased mods there likely won't be a problem or hard feelings.

Maybe this forum can actually be better the EMC was.
