So it's a lot like this is about to turn in to?  

I can't use Slack at work and when I'm at home I'm usually doing other things so I never log in.  I've hung out on there a few times months back but it's easier for me to justify a "help" forum to my boss and the forum environment is more to my liking.

The site will be up for three years regardless.

We may need to re-think the "culture" here if it's driving everyone away.  The post count has dropped in half over the last two weeks and I can't tell you how many people have left out of frustration. People who I enjoy(ed) reading their posts.

I don't really understand it either.  There has been a little more vulgarity.  I get that.  But I haven't seen anything as being that much different than EMC   It's all the same people with all the same opinions.  All of a sudden the move to another forum made certain groups of people less tolerable.    

Apparently there is something about this forum that makes it impossible to ignore the people you don't care for. That, or people just want to see people they don't like getting banned from the server.  Has cancel culture made its way to the Flee?

Ultimately the decision was taken by IHS.
They shut eWC which brought the place to its end.
If people join here and then go, it's more than likely because they had made their mind up when eWC was announced to close.
They gave it a go here, but no staying power...

Well, hopefully when all of the kinks get ironed out, some of the people who left will feel comfortable coming back.  There are a few people who I miss reading their posts every day.  Whether I agree with them or not.  

When I do disagree I don't feel the need to tell them how stupid they are.  Maybe I'm not doing something right?

The Outhouse is by request, so if someone is offended they can just stay out of it.

Yes, it's going to be tough to moderate the General Discussion forum, but not impossible.
I think any threads that get heated there should be moved to the Outhouse, then the participants can choose whether to continue the conversation there, or just drop it.
If they do choose to continue, they need to put on their big-boy pants and act like adults.

EXACTLY !!!

Our group "Thee Circle" may not be perfect and we dont always 100% get along but were better
than 10 years strong and understand if you cant handle it then we part ways or just agree to disagree.
There have been some heated arguments but we're (for the most part) like-minded and usually get past things.
For those who dont they just move  on.

I may start a suggestion thread on how people feel the site should be moderated. Obviously no moderation moderating isn't working.  This is more about the people who come here than it is about the site itself. I wanted a smooth transition for everyone and hoped that the EMC environment we had would follow along with the people.  The forum is just a forum. It's not some magical place that changes people when they enter.  If someone is an ass hole here, it's likely they were an ass hole on EMC. For some reason it was more tolerable there?

That is the key.  You haven't changed since this server started - I haven't seen you personally attacking everyone.  In the other thread, Wally posted something like "politics ruin everything".  While I agree with him to a certain extent, that's like saying "the devil made me do it" and takes away the personal responsibility of someone being disrespectful.  

I think that forum title/description "a less moderated forum" didn't really come across as intended.  It meant that this is a place that you could come and discuss things that were censored or considered taboo on EMC. It didn't mean that this is going to become a wild west free for all forum where you could feel free to shit all over people you disagree with.  Even the intent of the Outhouse was to post things that may not be everyone's cup of tea (bikini photos etc) - not platform for personal attacks.
