Currently reading "A life in parts".
Not a book I would have chosen myself but my son bought it for me.
I am not disappointed so far.

Finished two of the 3 books I had going... which is pretty typical for me (to have 3-4 going at once).
Ongoing;
About Face Col. David Hackworth - this one will probably take me a year to get through. I have to be in a certain mood to pick it up. :rofl:

Added;
Black Rednecks and White Liberals by Thomas Sowell. Been a GOOD read so far. The roots of "Redneck" Culture  are indeed interesting.

No Ordinary Dog by Will Chesney. It's a lighter read sort of, about a particular MWD (Military Working Dog) and his handler.

I just started the Old Man's War series by John Scalzi.
The first one was good, so I will continue through the series.

I also have read the first 7 or 8 books in the Star Force series by Aer-ki Jyr.
That series has something like 72 books, so if you like sci-fi there is plenty there to keep you busy for a while!   :cheers:
They aren't full-scale novels, so some of the shorter ones are only 3-4 hour reads.

The Area 51 series by Bob Mayer is also good for sci-fi fans.  I have read 2 of those so far and liked them as well.  :thumbsup:

John Scalzi is one of my favorite authors. I have listened to the entire old man's war series plus several other books of his. Not all were winners (not crazy about the Interdependency series) but most were. I think his ideas for plots are truly original. Two more books of his called Lock In and Head On are also good. One of my favorites is actually a reworking of an older book. It's called Fuzzy Nation.

You mentioned him in a different thread, which is why I picked a copy of the first Old Man's War audiobook.
I agree that the central theme of the Old Man's War series is quite interesting.
I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the series.  :cheers:

I tend to repeat myself. I feel sorry for the young guy that sits next to me. 😄

Scalzi is not what I would call "hard science fiction" like, say, William Gibson. That guy's stuff makes my brain hurt.

An no doubt some in here will be cheering it on, or worse, leading the charge.
