Why did the US Army just drop it as requirement when selecting top NCOs?

Army's Top Enlisted Leader Removed Diversity Consideration for Top Enlisted Roles

Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Weimer, the top enlisted leader of the force, recently issued new guidance on selecting command sergeants major that was essentially copy-and-pasted from his predecessor -- with one exception. It removes a line directing that a command sergeant major candidate's diversity be considered.

The 2 terms, Diversity is our greatest strength, and Diversity, equity and inclusion mean 2 completely different things to me.

a diverse portfolio is a strong portfolio. a military that can defend and attack in diverse ways is a strong military. an Economy that is built on diverse revenue streams is a strong economy.

 All of those things are true. But as so often happens, the idea became corrupted into DEI which actually makes all of the above weaker.
