Quote from: Jim at Gentex on November 15, 2024, 06:59 AMA pedo is currently your sitting President, so what's your point?  :harhar:

And if you paid any attention, I brought up Biden's daughters diary on the forum asking why that got swept under the carpet too.

This kinda blows your "If he committed a crime, they would have slam-dunked his ass and been done with it." argument out of the water if Biden is indeed a pedo?  Right?

Quote from: neurosis on November 15, 2024, 06:57 AMOh come on.. Trump picked him because he knows that Gaetz will do anything he asks him to. That is the ONLY reason

So, which is it? He was picked because he's a lapdog? Or he was picked to avoid the investigation?

Oh knock that off.  lol.  I said Gaetz 'probably' resigned to avoid his reputation being ruined and it's possible that he was advised.  His being a Trump lap dog isn't even in question.

No, because Biden's OWN DoJ would NEVER investigate him.
Try to keep up, will ya?  :harhar:

Once again, beaten by semantics.

I believe that these people get away with a LOT of things that we'll never know about. Whether it's Biden or Gaetz. I'm not willing to give either a free pass.

Quote from: Del. on November 15, 2024, 06:54 AMWhat was his beef with McCarthy?

Remember when McCarthy was running for Speaker?
Gaetz, Bobert, and a few others told McCarthy point-blank they would not support him for Speaker unless he pledged to eliminate the practice of those bloated omnibus spending bills, AND, they also changed the House rules to make it easier to remove the Speaker for cause.

Well, McCarthy violated that pledge, and they booted his ass out of the Speaker's chair.

That set the whole swamp against him on both sides for challenging the status-quo, so they started looking for ways to get even with him, hence, a good old ethics investigation, even when the DoJ couldn't find anything to charge him with.

Jeff

Just because someone is "under investigation" doesn't mean they did anything wrong. The past few years they've just been using that as a smear tactic to paint some people in a bad light.

Quote from: Jim at Gentex on November 15, 2024, 07:14 AMhence, a good old ethics investigation,

So that had nothing to do with him hanging out with a known sex trafficker who he's been proven to have venmo'd money to?

I guess the revenge thing sounds just as plausible.  :D

QuoteGaetz sent two Venmo transactions amounting to $900 to accused sex trafficker Joel Greenberg in May 2018. He labeled the first transaction "test" and the second transaction "hit up _____," with the alleged nickname of a young woman.

Greenberg later sent money to three girls labeled as "Tuition," "School" and "School" that totaled $900.

The Daily Beast said that while it was investigating the transactions, Gaetz's public Venmo record disappeared.

Greenberg has also made his Venmo transactions private.

Nothing to see there.  Nothing at all.   :D

Ahh the "high end tabloid" that is owned by IAC. And guess who sits on the Board of Directors of IAC.... Michael Eisner and.... Chelsea Clinton.
Yeah, no motivation to smear Republicans there.

Former editor in chief of The Daily Beast was also a CNN contributor.

No bias there!

I've yet to see you call out anyone who posts links to or quote gateway pundit or epoch times, etc.

There are plenty of sources that covered that same thing. I just posted a quote from the first because this is already all known information.  If you've been following the case anyway.

Is a known sex trafficker a credible witness, or do you suppose he could be 'pursuaded' to make accusations and even lie under oath, for, oh I don't know, say having some of his own charges dropped or reduced?

And saying those Venmo transactions are 'proven' is also a stretch because that is only hearsay.
To your earlier point, lacking an 'official' report, we don't KNOW anything for certain other than what the media puts out.

I will agree that IFFFFF there is any basis for prosecuting Gaetz for legit crimes, and he is actually prosecuted and found guilty, he SHOULD be appropriately punished.

But this smacks more of a political witch-hunt to me, and is much more plausible.

Kinda like the kangaroo court that hung the 'convicted felon' label on Trump just to weaken his chances of being re-elected.

The judge and the DA did so many things wrong in that case that those convictions will be easily vacated on appeal, but they don't care because they served their purpose, even though the overall goal wasn't achieved.

Well, lookie here!
We were just talking about this, and I just now found this article on my news feed.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/house-republicans-strike-deal-on-motion-to-vacate-making-it-harder-to-oust-speaker/ar-AA1u5HfF?rc=1&ocid=winp1taskbar&cvid=294e04e0ea74457282147542d6f16918&ei=20

Apparently, Speaker Johnson doesn't want the same thing that happened to McCarthy to be done to him.
The more things change, the more they stay the same...

Yea, that's how Gaetz got off.  The witnesses aren't considered "credible"

The guy who received the money from Gaetz is the only one who could corroborate the story, did, and yet was considered not to be credible.

Oddly enough, nobody has contested the connection between Gaetz and Greenberg.  Just the credibility in Greenbergs testimony implicating Gaetz.  The only people defending Gaetz and not more curious about the case at this point are Trumpsters.

Like all things Trump. It doesn't matter if Gaetz is guilty. Only that he's loyal to Trump.  Nothing else matters.

Because we all saw how Trump got railroaded with bullshit 'felony convictions' that will turn out to be worth less than the paper they are printed on.

I clearly stated that if Gaetz is prosecuted with real criminal charges and found guilty, he should face the consequences, but so far there is only rumor and hearsay, and yes, from one less than credible witness.
