This is something that changed this year. We have to badge out when we leave, now. They installed new turnstiles all over the campus. This is not just for defense work but everywhere. I'm wondering if this is a new trend.

We have always had to badge in and out here at Gentex for as long as I can remember.

We have to badge in, badge out & badge thru many doors in this facility. It pre-dates me and I have been here since 2015

Yes.  Very common for both security and emergency use.

Our facility has security doors everywhere.
Everyone can badge in and out of two main entry/exit doors which have security guards, then once inside certain employee badges allow access to certain areas of the facility, depending on your job classification.

The same badges allow hourly employees to clock in and out at the timeclock terminals, and to scan labor into the SAP system.

Speaking of, anyone else grab for their badge and try to scan into their doors at home? :fun:

We aren't that high-tech, not yet anyway.
But since I am retiring in March, I doubt much will change.

We have to clock out for lunch, and back in when lunch is over.
It started about a year ago.
It is in response to 2 issues
This place had been on the honor system for years
You clocked in at the start of your shift, out at the end and a 1/2 hour was deducted from your time for lunch.
In the last year or so it became clear the honor system was no longer valid with people turning a half hour into
90 minutes or more.

the second issue is scumbag class action lawyers and tightening of state labor laws
Pro Tip ... most laws are written by lawyers to enrich lawyers
Many companies in Cali are the victims of class action lawsuits over cheating people out of their lunch time.
Get one guy to file a complaint and that opens the books for a class action lawsuit.
If you're a company that has been doing lunch on the honor system you cannot prove people have been getting
their half hour for lunch. You lose the class action lawsuit by default.
You have to prove you've been obeying the law, the scumbag lawyers do not half to prove you were breaking it.

I haven't had to punch a clock in decades.

I've been slavery since my time at Mori in the 90's - though tI was Salary Non-Exempt then so I got OT... Except when I was on my own for two years. That was billed by the job.

Been Salary Exempt since January 2007.
