Quote from: Jeff on February 03, 2025, 08:46 AMWhat is the goal they are trying to achieve by acquiring all of these resellers?

They are absorbing them so as to bring it ALL under the Sandvik umbrella..

Once completed there will be no VAR network, it will all be "Mastercam"

No longer sharing the "$$$" with the reseller network or the ancillary 3rd party posts and such.

As with any acquisition, for the foreseeable future, you may have familiar voices on the other end of any communications, as they figure out the real scope of what they need, I imagine staffing will eventually be brought down but that's pure speculation on my part...just an observation of what I have seen in other acquisitions.

yes... my 15 year relationship with my post supplier is no more.
getting a quote on a post modification has gone from a couple of emails
to 2 weeks of spinning my wheels
Back in the day, I'd have had the post mods already, as of today I've yet to receive a formal quote

Yesterday I got a hot job on our JOBS gantry mill
I haven't used that machine sim since 2023 and it wasn't running right in 2024 or 25

I put together an email, addressed to respect the new chain of command with a CC to Postability's new Mastercam email address.
I hit Send sent about 7AM yesterday morning.
In the past they'd have had me straightened out by first break.
24 hours later, I have yet to even receive an acknowledgement of my support submission.

It seems to be happening with their other acquisitions as well. Maybe not at such a pace, but there are changes. And I dont think for the good.

Still nothing, very disappointing

and to make matters worse
they ran my file over the weekend and there is a simple post edit required
This is an edit that used to be a 3 or 4 hour turnaround at most.
I feel like an old friend has died, and in a way that is true.

Good news!
Just before clocking out for the day I received the files needed to solve the problem I was having.

I had emailed my support request to my dealer's support email.

Apparently the new way to file support requests is via the My Mastercam link at Mastercam.com
and that is still a work in progress.

I guess I'll need to create an account for my employer on Mastercam.com.

It's not the near instant support I was used to, but 2 working days with support system still under development is acceptable.

We'll have to see how it works going forward.

Me thinks that the VARs that do not have a solid plan for the future span of time Sandvik is concerned about will either be bought out or their contracts won't be renewed.
