Wonder if this will finally be a wakeup call for voters. Maybe the best virtue signalling won't be the only job requirement. Maybe actual leadership qualifications will rule?
 Nah, nevermind.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Leadership failed to refill the existing reservoirs. That's why the have no water to fight the Fires.

Trump had suggested instead of just letting the rain run off down to the Ocean storing it for use.

I don't know if you have ever seen it.

But they had built a concrete system to direct the water out. A huge waste of Billions of gallons of water.

We called it the L.A. river.

I guess neurosis missed all the 2024 water releases after Noah's ark level of rain

15 years out for any water project due to comically sad regulation.

That last water storage construction in in northern CA was completed in the early 1970....all the while the population has grown by millions

Quote from: Jeff on January 08, 2025, 08:47 AMSupposedly insurance companies dropped coverage not too long ago on a lot of these houses.

Yes after the big fires up north several years ago, Cali passed a bunch of laws tightening the screws on insurance companies about what they had to pay and how much and how quick.
Last year the insurance companies applied for rate increases to cover the new expenses.
Thier applications were denied... and a bunch of companies, including State Farm, cancelled their California policies and left the California market.
If you live in a high fire risk area, it is very difficult or impossible to buy fire insurance now.
The only recourse is to buy from a state sponsored fund... which is hellish expensive and shit insurance.
As a result many of the people in Pacific Palisades were uninsured.
My neighborhood is not in a high risk zone and I've had the same policy for 20 years now.
Many of my neighbors have been cutting their trees down lately.
I think it is driven by their insurance companies as a requirement for renewal or lower rates.
