That last water storage construction in in northern CA was completed in the early 1970....all the while the population has grown by millions

About 15 years ago, Cali voters approved a $8 billion bond measure to fund new water storage projects.
It as been tied up in environmental litigation, .gov red tape and union labor squabbles ever since.
A large chunk of the $8 billion has been consumed by lawyers and new legions of state employees.
To date, not one shovelful of earth has been moved and will not be anytime soon.

Actually, the legislature sent Newsome a bill to divert as much of last year's heavy rains to existing
storage reservoirs as possible. Newsome declined to sign it and the runoff was released into the ocean.
As a result the reservoirs that support LA's fire hydrants were empty and the fire hydrants ran dry at the height of the
Pacific Palisades fire this week.

Sadly, I doubt it.
Most of them see zero connection between how they vote and how it bites them in the ass later.
