Prior to the 1956 season, Uecker signed with his hometown Milwaukee Braves for $3,000.

"That bothered my dad at the time because he didn't have that kind of dough," Uecker said. "But he eventually scraped it up."

When he played for the Cardinals, he and Bob Gibson were holding hands in the team photo. When the owners found out they had to redo the picture.

Bummer.  When i think of baseball, he always pops up in my mind.  From the brewers o the movie major league.
