Where I come from on this is the DOJ and the Fast and Furious Op.

They FORCED gun dealers to go through with straw purchases. Purchases that on their own, would have never made. The gun dealers were threatened with loss of their FFL's. So, they complied.

It is not eeeeeeven outside the realm of possibility this guy was shafted.

the people that ACTUALLY sold the drug on the website got under 5 years, but the "WEBSITE CREATOR" got double life sentences plus 40 years. Killing multiple people execution style won't get you THAT sentence in many (most?) USA jurisdictions.
Insanely harsh sentence by any measure.

I would be willing to bet that it was for two reasons. His attorney told him to reject the plea agreement. That never ends well. And that they saw him creating that website as making it possible for everyone who sold drugs on it to do so and so he was held responsible for all illegal activity that went through that site.

There has to be a 'make an example' aspect of it as well.
