Quote from: neurosis on January 31, 2025, 08:40 AMThe only thing that's changed is that we call it out now. I don't know when this tribalism politics started, but it hasn't helped the Country. It's made it worse. And it continues to get worse.

Jordan Peterson once had a dream that haunted him. In the dream he saw a graveyard full of all of the great kings of history and suddenly the kings rose up out of their graves and immediately started to fight each other with swords. The fighting raged on and on and he wondered who would ever stop it. suddenly one more king rose up out of his grave and when the other kings saw him, they immediately stopped fighting and took a knee to bow to that king. He wondered what kind of king could cause all of the other kings to unite into one single act of obedience.

@beej that would be Anti-Christ...

I often wonder if he has been born yet because it certainly looks like we are heading into the end times.

Hitler was one of the closest things we have found to the anti-christ, and while he caused enemies to work together, he caused more fighting, not less.

Anti-Christ is going to be someone who EVERYONE trusts. That is why many people believe it will be a Pope. I do not believe this because it's pretty clear Anti-Christ will be a Jew... nobody else will be able to be in the temple (once it gets built).

I wouldn't. If we are talking about changing history, I wish she would have trained him up in such a way that he used obvious talent in oratory for good and to respect the dignity of all human life. As we all should be doing with our own children and grandchildren ;)

there does come a point when the redeeming possibilities get severely limited. it's best to seek redemption as early as possible in life.  ;)

I'm not a theologian... that said the only document I've spent more time in than the US Constitution is The Bible. So here goes...

Sure... those that commit the unpardonable sin (which is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit). There's some robust debate in the Christian Community as to who has and has not committed this sin.

 "General" concensus is that if you are worried about it, you have not committed it. As always things regarding salvation and damnation can be contentious. I mean, Martin Luther disagreed so much with the Catholic Church he basically founded protetestantism. I'm.in the if you're worried about it then you probably haven't camp.

Everyone else that is alive can choose the free gift of salvation no matter what sins they have committed. There's some rules/guidelines for salvation though.

I'd only asked that question because the Hitler question is often use in ethics edit: discussions debates.

It was a joke in reference to beej starting the philosophical discussion on abortion.
