Not true
When I lived in Anaheim there was a young Colombian family that lived in a condo 3 doors down from me.
They were legal and sponsored the young woman's parents to immigrate from Columbia, legally.
The parents moved into the condo paid for with SS benefits and the kids moved out an bought a house.
It was all totally legal and above board,  but it always pissed me of as the parents hadn't paid a penny into the system yet they were drawing full benefits.

You need to look it up. They were probably on Medicaid.

That is possible, but it's still not right, they never paid a dime into the system

Yeah but you don't have to pay for Medicaid.

It's dependent on income, full coverage for my wife and I will be about $500/month each when we retire
Plan A is no charge, Add Plan B and prescription coverage and it gets painful

That's Medicare, not medicaid. And if you think $500 each is painful you've got damn good insurance.

Many (most?) people who are working pay a lot more than that for a lot less.

Get the Plan B and then buy a supplement Plan G and you will be covered good. You can get a Prescription Plan for nothing unless you are on some high cost drugs. Don't mess with Advantage Plan. It has too many restrictions.

Yeah he's kinda weird can get excellent coverage for $600 -$700 a month TOTAL.

Quote from: CNCAppsJames on March 20, 2025, 05:14 PMI sympathize, but at the same time I seriously question the pearl clutchers and their sky is falling trope.

When it comes to politics, there is plenty of "pearl clutching" to go around. I don't know if sympathizing for making it difficult to impossible on our senior citizens falls in to that category. The next thing you know we'll be bitching about all of these old fucks driving to the Social Security office when they're too old to be driving.

Comparing guns to money for, food, needed prescriptions, housing, medical...  well...

Quote from: CNCAppsJames on March 20, 2025, 05:14 PMThe reality is there is more fraud and abuse they are willing to admit to...

I'm no expert on SS fraud either, but I've stayed at a Holiday Inn.

Everything I've read shows that it isn't as prevalent as people are being lead to believe.

"• Cutting improper payments for only the very old or the deceased would reduce program costs by between 0.00002 and 0.002 percent, extending the program's solvency by between six minutes and 12 hours."

I don't mind digging in to SS fraud if it's going to make a difference. But making it more difficult on Seniors and the disabled, if the savings are going to be insignificant, doesn't make a lot of sense.

I'm sure that if people aren't able to get themselves to the SS office for one reason or another, they'll just be marked as dead or non existent and lose their SS and have to fight to get it back.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Quote from: CNCAppsJames on March 20, 2025, 03:42 PMAll this pearl clutching is just delicious.

These people are the same people claiming black people can't get official government ID's therefore nobody needs ID to vote.

Instead of sending fraudsters through the wood chipper with the pedos, murderers, and rapists, we're gonna get all indignant about the government trying to protect the US Treasury fkr a change?

Just because you haven't experienced something directly in your tiny little myopic world doenst mean it isn't a thing.

Quote from: neurosis on March 20, 2025, 10:48 AMDo you really think that ending income tax is realistic? I'd be curious to hear the break down of how that would work out for the Country.

9 states Already DO NOT impose an income tax....

I live in one of them. And trust me. They tax the shit out of you in other ways. You're not saving money because there is no income tax.

It's not like I can say - Thank god Washington State has no income tax. Now I can finally save for my retirement.  Our State is considered to be one of the most regressively taxed States in the nation. Meaning, it's more difficult for low earners to get by in this State. That is what you get with a Sales/Consumption tax.

I am glad that I don't live in California. :D
