The B250 looks like an awesome platform.

Growth. When I started here at the beginning of 2018 we had two machines. We now have 19 with two more on the way. Our  sales revenue has grown 5x-6x in that time.

That is awesome to hear. We are quite swamped at my shop, especially in the 5ax department (cause it's just me lol)
Today we have a guy coming in for interview who is a supposed fanuc 5axis guy. very excited. even though everyone seems to over-sell the absolute shit out of themselves and then can never deliver, I have high hopes!

the safety features that are on this new Okuma, which they are saying comes from the Global Safety Initiative, are driving us crazy! all of a sudden used machines seem a lot more appealing to us. i can sort of see how these safety mechanisms are good for production scenarios, but when you work in the Mold and Die business, they are a show stopper!

we try to adjust the coolant nozzles, but it won't let you turn the coolant on with the door open. so you adjust them, and close the door and try it. turn them off, adjust them, close the door and try it.  Stupid!!!!!

There is a parameter that lets the coolant run with the door open.

that's good to know, I've been in contact with our Okuma Vendor about that and they said Okuma is forbidding them to tell us how to work around some of the safety features. So we've quit asking. I'll find that parameter now that I know it exists.

It is something like "coolant door interlock ineffective". There are like 15 pages of coolant parameters in Okuma mills.

COOLANT DOOR IL EFFECTIVE
Sets the machine not to discharge coolant while the operator door is open.
This parameter is invalid for the CE mark-compliant machine.

I'm telling you, this sucks!!!

I have been told that Okuma decided they didn't want to build different spec machines for different parts of the world. The new P500 control was designed to meet CE spec and is the standard on all machines regardless of where it ships. A lot of long time Okuma customers are not happy about it.

they told us that the US was forcing them to add these safety specs. If what you are saying is true, (that they are choosing to) we might be done with Okuma.
