I programmed a large part a couple of weeks ago in MC2022,a Ø90" x 48" tube
We did it on a big HBM with a rotary table mounted on it.
I've been bugging the bosses for 15 years to add G93 (Inverse time feed rates) to this machine
and when this job cane up they finally wrote the check.
The part had some big shallow pockets around the OD and I couldn't get a toolpath I was happy with
so I did it old school.
2D pocket, backplot and save the geometry, wrap the geometry around the cylinder
and use a 5X project toolpath. It was a nice toolpath, but all the time I was thinking
that this was way too much work for something so simple

Yesterday I watched a Zoom presentation my dealer put on about the new MC2022 5X universal toolpath
After watching the seminar, I tried what I'd been shown and had a sweet toolpath in about 15 minutes
Pretty damn cool. Can't wait to play with it some more

Should have got TCP instead of inverse feed. The cost is about the same.

You are probably right, though I'm not sure these old controls would support it.
Politics and the logistics of placing the order were a major hurdle to overcome.
Talking someone into buying something they don't understand and can't comprehend
is a challenge. I am happy to have Inverse time. It's only taken 15 years.
This part is done now and came out pretty good.
It was a fun project.

Brother, ain't that the truth.

Just this morning one of our QC Managers was giving a new Engineer a tour of the facility.
They came through our CNC area, and he pointed to our DMU80T 5-axis mill and said, "This is one of our 5-axis CMM routers..."

I just smile and nod...
