This was waiting from me in my mailbox this morning

QuoteThank you for your continued partnership with CGTech and for choosing Vericut as your trusted solution for NC simulation, verification, and optimization.

We are writing to inform you of an upcoming price adjustment that will take effect on July 1st, 2025. This change reflects our ongoing investment in innovation, expanding capabilities, and providing you with world-class support.

Starting July 1st, maintenance for Vericut products will increase by 1%, from 17% to 18%. Existing products that were licensed for or purchased prior to July 1st will remain at 17% until your next maintenance renewal date. At that renewal a new proposal will be created for you with the updated rate.

In addition, we will continue to offer our "Training for Life" program to customers on active maintenance. "Training for Life" provides you the ability to send one person, per Verification license (limit 5), to any standard virtual or physical training class each year.

I'm sure purchase prices have gone up as well.
Our VC rep stopped by for a visit a couple of weeks ago and he sort of implied that this would be an annual thing for the next couple of years

At least there have been no press releases this morning announcing more family owned businesses
assimilated into the borg.

Anybody know how much Eureka is?

Going forward I think the smart business play is to drop maintenance and then every 4-5 years upgrade. That way in 15 years you have 3 seats of vericut instead of 1. And I bet they will give you a deal to get you back on maintenance on the older seats so maybe money better well spent?

Years ago, SolidWorks made a "no discount to renew expired maintenance policy"
You had to pay full boat for every year you were off maintenance.
The stated reason was, it is not fair to the people who keep their maintenance current every year.
That is true, but in my case, they caved pretty quickly.

Speaking of Solidworks, I received the quote for maintenance renewal of our one seat of SW.

The price has doubled over the last 10 years.

Our 25 seats isn't pretty

Our quote contains an "Elite Success Plan" which is fancy words for elevated support and free training.

Last year I asked for a quote without it and it reduced the annual cost per seat by about $600.

"Elite Success Plan"? What, is that Solidworks?

I recall someone telling me the cost of Solidworks has skyrocketed. It seems the software thing has gone a little crazy lately...
CNC Softwares own 'lil piece of Poison Ivy.

I requested a requote less the Elite Success Plan.

This was the reply

QuoteI see that you are coming off a multi-year renewal and haven't been introduced to the Success Plan yet. This plan allows everyone unlimited access to our self-paced training catalog. There is over $30K worth of SOLIDWORKS training. No matter how well someone knows SOLIDWORKS, there is always room for improvement and new things to learn, especially as SOLIDWORKS continues to innovate and make feature improvements. Also included are additional mentoring sessions, Service discounts for any prototyping needs, and more.

They used to have the basic price of maintenance, then the vendor would add a markup.
Now I think the vendor markup is built into the price and the Elite Success Plan is just more padding.

The only support I've even needed was with getting licensing straightened out.
It was a real mess when Dassault took them over.

We have a full time Catia designer here now who builds manufacturing models for all our work.
I hardly use SW anymore. My employer has been keeping my personal seat up to date, but I'll be letting it go when I retire.

All these BS things getting added for a fee, all these companies are doing is creating income streams under the guise of "service". A service most users will never avail themselves to use.
