Back in the 90s' me and a few friends tried to hang out at a couple of bars in South Tacoma.  The first one we walked in to got super quiet really fast. We noticed that we were the only whities in the bar. The bar tender told us that we could have a beer but should probably leave after we finished it. The second place we walked in to and right back out.

I grew up in the eastern San Gabriel Valley in southern California. In the 80's the skinhead presence was palpable. Not being totally well versed in that culture, I "think" the skinheads were the milder version of the AB.

Saw LOTS of those SS lightning bolt tats along with red laced Docs growing up. Always kept my distance from those turds.

I don't own a MAG hat and I'm not enough of a badass to wear one in this town.
The last guy I know who wore a MAGA hat around here got beat into a coma by peace loving
tolerant SoCal liberals.

Each lace color meant something different. I don't remember all of them, but red... definitely remember that. That was the I like to fight and hate everyone except for my set.

Black laces were the neutral color, meaning you just wanted to be left alone and didn't claim anything or any allegiance.

I don't know if anyone would remember this, but on Hilltop in Tacoma back in the late 80's, early 90's a group of U.S. Army Rangers got into a shoot out with Crip gang members.  It was called the Ash Street shootout or something like that. I don't know what this says about our military, but I don't think anyone on either side got hit. 

I was living in South Tacoma just a few years before that.  It wasn't a very white friendly area.
