Isn't that kind of what they've been doing from release to release?
Changing icons, re-wording functions, etc...
To me, the entire machine group setup dumpster fire shows that it's not working.
They should really work on fixing the current broken things before redoing everything.
For example the Advanced Drill toolpath. What a shit toolpath!

I use this one often, for generic probing routines.

Hardly! They are adding some features and modifying others (Modifying mostly for the sake of doing something as opposed to leaving it is my guess...marketing). I am assuming that writing the code/algorithms is more complex as the software progress's, along with adding the items that a licensed from other companies (like the Solid Kernel, Model Prep Tools, Verify, Module Works Toolpaths etc).

No one knows what the end game is with the Machine Setup/ Master Model/ Stock setup. Possibly creating a tiered system that could include G-Code Verification like Vericut or another type?

Not really.

V9 to X,.yes..but that UI was built 25-26 years ago. X to now has been incremental this or that.

UI wise, it's a shitshow that doesn't even feel like it belongs to the same program, IMO - in spite of it's notable utility when used effectively. So I kind of agree with you, the depth table is rudimentary and a little backwards, especially re: speeds/feeds and it feels clunky, yet miraculous when you get it to spit out what you actually wanted it to do.

It really seems like they should have started rewriting the software 10 years ago so that right now they would have a modern platform to add new features to...

IMHO there is no way that Mastercam can compete longterm without it. The framework for advanced functionality doesn't seem to be there and everything just seems bolted on with every new version.

I hope someone can chime in and tell me how wrong i am but....

Moving between Mill and Lathe feels like you're using completely different software.  :D
