I guess it depends on who you ask.
The family of someone killed in a car jacking would say no
A clueless DEI hire police official will tell you it's a wonderful day in the neighborhood.

One way to tell is to google car theft stats.
Car jacking is a sport in DC.
I found this, but given reports of downgrading crime reports, it's accuracy in questionable.

Apparently Nvidia didn't get the memo on crime in D.C.

CLEARLY that moron is a DEI hire, you can tell just by looking at it.

When I was a Scoutmaster, my 11 year old Scouts without rank KNEW what Chain of Command was.

The people of DC voted for this.

One thing I've noticed about the people who complain about Seattle. Usually, none of the people complaining about it live in Seattle.

I have my complaints about Seattle too. I don't live in Seattle, either, but I am in Seattle every day. I do have to wonder, are they getting what they wanted? It is what they voted for.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

That is a great question. Do the Seattleites send the people putting the policies that draw the ire of people in place BACK in office or are they voting them out? DC sent a Marion Berry back to office even after he did time...

The best I've seen since Seattle took a hard left, was they went softer left with more pro business council members after the GF riots and the call to defund the police. This last primary, the soft left got slaughtered, and they voted HARD left.

Sometimes I just have to scratch my head and wonder if this is what they actually want for the City.

I almost bought a Condo in Magnolia back in 2014. I can't tell you how glad I am that I didn't.

Interesting read about crime data here:

https://paulkrugman.substack.com/p/talking-with-jeff-asher?utm_source=substack&publication_id=277517&post_id=171063230&utm_medium=email&utm_content=share&utm_campaign=email-share&triggerShare=true&isFreemail=true&r=1h2yym&triedRedirect=true

Browsing the comments to the above, this caught my eye. My friend Peter liked to joke that "5/3rds of Americans don't understand fractions", and by golly, I bet he was right!

Yup, numeracy (more exactly, innumeracy) is a "thing" apparently.

This portion of the comment referenced above is what jumped out at me: "I read that it's estimated that 29% of people in the US lack basic numerical skills...."

I haven't tried to fact check the 29% claim, but it seems plausible to me (unfortunately).

And as you pointed out with your quote, it's not hard to cherry-pick statistics to support whichever side of an argument you wish.
