Del.

Seeing the hostages reunited with their families was in itself worthy of thanks to President Trump. Hate him all you want but he gets things done.

refresh my history 850 years ago - uk king gave cyprus to the knights templar because he was more interested in capturing palestine

Chattygpt:-
You're referring to events around the **Third Crusade**, specifically involving **King Richard I of England ("Richard the Lionheart")**, and what happened with **Cyprus** in **1191 AD**, which is about **834 years ago** — close to your "850 years ago" estimate.

Here's a quick historical refresh:

---

### ⚔️ The Context: Third Crusade (1189–1192)

* The Crusade was launched to recapture **Jerusalem**, which had been taken by **Saladin** (emperor of Egypt and Syria) in 1187.
* Major European leaders involved included **Richard I of England**, **Philip II of France**, Leopold V of Austria and **Frederick Barbarossa** (Holy Roman Emperor).

---

### 🏝 Cyprus and King Richard I

* In **May 1191**, on his way to the Holy Land, **Richard I** stopped at **Cyprus** after his fiancée (**Berengaria of Navarre**) and sister (**Joan of Sicily**) were shipwrecked near the island.
* At that time, Cyprus was under the control of **Isaac Komnenos**, a Byzantine noble who had declared himself ruler of the island.

---

### ⚔️ Richard Conquers Cyprus

* Richard **invaded and quickly conquered Cyprus** in 1191 after Isaac refused to help and insulted him.
* Richard saw Cyprus as a valuable base for the Crusaders and a source of resources.

---

### 🎁 Richard Sells Cyprus to the Knights Templar

* Richard wasn't interested in holding Cyprus long-term — his main goal was conquering **Palestine (the Holy Land)**.
* He **sold Cyprus to the Knights Templar** shortly after capturing it (for about 100,000 bezants).
* The **Templars**, however, **struggled to control** the island due to local rebellions.

---

### 🏰 What Happened Next?

* The Templars sold Cyprus again in **1192** to **Guy of Lusignan**, the former King of Jerusalem (he had lost Jerusalem to Saladin).
* This led to the establishment of the **Lusignan Kingdom of Cyprus**, which lasted for nearly 300 years.

---

### Summary

* **King Richard I** captured Cyprus in **1191**.
* He **sold it to the Knights Templar** because his main focus was **Palestine/Jerusalem**.
* The Templars couldn't hold it and later sold it to **Guy of Lusignan**.

Lmao!

I guess the point I was making was that if this timeline and occurrences are correct, then there's at least c850 years of "sorting out the region"....
And it's the same players....England, France still working for the Roman empire....

Ahhh...Hamas...they really are a peaceful bunch of guys. Just execute those who oppose you, and you have peace. Simple!

I really think Greta should step up and talk to these peaceful guys.

I'm all for giving Trump praise on this, but I know it's going to come out in a couple weeks that he's going to green light some Israeli action that's going to violate the peace terms and they're at it again. Hope im wrong

He's already said he would if Hamas doesn't disarm per the terms of the agreement.
Hamas will not disarm and the international pressure to do nothing about it will be immense.
I suspect things will just drift along and at some point there will be an Oct 7 2.0.

They have been bred and trained from birth to kill Jews.
When they run out of Jews they'll find someone else to kill.
It's all they know.

The bred part is accurate. With the prevalence of consanguineous marriages not only do you pass down bad genetic traits, there are also several studies that show that inbreeding breeds violent behavior. Palestinians marry their cousins close to 50% of the time.....
