This d b dude is on a roll today on the Mastercam main forum.

Help? LOL. I went through this before. This is not an issue in 2020. You can create your own file, just as I did and figure it out for yourself. Go through what I did.

LET ME HELP YOU OUT.

1.) Create a scanned surface with a 3d scanner using Creaform OS. Software performed perfectly.

2.) Import the mesh into Dezignworks (Because Mastercam Mesh tools are absolute garbage that is a scam) are create surface. Dezignworks performed perfectly.

3.) Import the surface into Mastercam and apply the blended surface tool path. Software performed perfectly.

4.) Attempt to convert to 5 axis toolpath in mastercam. Software failed to create a good path.

5.) Delete step 4 and accept the 3 axis path and tilt 15degrees for clearance. Because mastercam failed again.

6.) Find that you need 2 check planes to limit the cut depth and add to toolpath and wait overnight to process the toolpath before task manager stop, and trying several attempts at troubleshooting without success. Because mastercam completely failed.

7.)  Trim the drive surface to the check surfaces and and reselect the initial drive surface and the check surfaces as all being drive surfaces. So, no check surfaces. The software was not able to complete the task with 3 surfaces in about 1 minute. Software success.

 

So, the end result is Mastercam is incapable of using a blend mill process with a ball endmill and check surfaces. Since I have done your job for you, I expect another year of free maintenance. I believe we are up to 2059 years of free maintenance. Since there is no way I can make use of all 2059 years of free maintenance to put up with this BS, I will just gift most of those years to people I absolutely hate.
