I'm creating a simple poll to get an idea of the demand per x amount of users.
I would appreciate your votes.

I'll break my "seldom use" down even further

All I use are

Arc3D
FindOverlap

on an even rarer occaions
Rolldie
CoonsSurf

I voted "what's a chook?", not because I don't know what they are but because I use TopSolid.

Gear is the one I get into every now & then. ArcMultiEdit on rare occasions. There could be a shortcut inside of mastercam for these....I just know to find them by hitting Alt-C
Technically the Camplete plugin is a c-hook, but it has its own shortcut inside of Mastercam, so not sure that counts.

It definetly counts!

Haha, whenever I show people coons surf they always have some comment .

Hmm note to self, add a "i dont use mastercam" field next time!

I use CoonsSurf FTMFW on almost every project. Nothing flows a 5-Axis toolpath just right like a proper Coons Surface.

Gear is the only one I use. And I only use that about once a month at best.
James has me curious about Coons though, I've heard before that it was very good, I just don't know anything about it.

Use the same wireframe geo to compare. Coons works similar to NetSurfs. With a Net Surf you don't have to break your geo at every intersection, you will need to before creating your Coons Surf.

Coons and Net look similar but they are not exact (using the same wireframe geo). The data on them is different, also (control points and degree). There's also some more options (blends) available with Coons (linear, parabolic, cubic, cubic slope matching).

I should probably start another thread. :D  but have you played with TS boost milling much?  I"m wondering how it's progressing.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

This is how your reply looked to me:

Yes that's Greek lol

We have a few licenses of Boost and a few licenses of Volumill. The Boost is not as picky about stock to leave/corner rounding issues and it allows for finer chip thinning. Boost also calculates faster. However, the in-between cut moves in the machine are not as smooth. We see a lot of "jerky" looking accel/decel type issues in the machine. I have not been able to do a lot of testing though. Unfortunately our programmers are inexperienced, machinists are very busy, and my primary job is controls engineering and robotics so we just live with the Boost toolpath issues.

lol. You did post you knew nothing about CoonsSurfs.

What I meant was it is very similar to NetSurfs.

Play around with both of them (CoonsSurfs and NetSurfs)

To create either type of surface, you need a 3D wireframe. So, I suggested use the same wireframe geo for both surface types to compare them.

And NetSurfs don't require geo to be broken at every intersection. CoonsSurfs do require we break the geo.

Yeah I've never really messed with surfaces much, just solids.

It's fun to draw multiple surfaces into one, and the toolpaths are very smooth.
