This is closer to home for me, than most of you here. I've been to Bondi many times. It is one of the iconic locations in Sydney, and if one visits there, at some stage, you'll end there at least once.

Australia and New Zealand (where I am) don't have the same gun culture that exists in the USA. Most of us here in NZ get that. We don't have a 2nd Amendment, and we've always had relatively strict gun control. I totally respect the fact the USA has the amendment, and thats fine.
Owning a handgun (legally) here in NZ is not common, and you have to have a special license. I keep reminding myself I must look at doing that sometime, because I'm interested in firearms. Just never got around to getting one (I do have a replica M1 carbine on my jeep though LOL)
Its well known fact that general police in NZ dont carry sidearms (they do in Australia) but, they do have ready access to handguns and other firearms. They only carry sidearms at airports and on special details.

But, the general consensus regarding this Bondi shooting, is that it has nothing to do with gun control. It has everything to do with immigration, and vetting of individuals regarding firearm licensing and general backgrounds. Australia has allowed these people to bring their shitbox thousand year bitterness and hatred into their country, just like it is happening all over the world. No doubt it will happen here, because our country has a too weak stance on immigration. The Australian Prime Minister is calling for stricter gun control. They're all making the point that the father had six firearms. Well, he can only shoot one at a time. Even if he was licensed for just one, he could use that single firearm to inflict the same amount of carnage on the public. No, the issue is the scumbag(s) and their screwed up beliefs.

I read a good post yesterday that simply stated:

You come to our country for our way of life
You stay in your country for your way of life
