QuoteIt did, however, give us an excessive speed error of some kind.

that was the poor machine screaming in terror as it blasted through the hard stops

Do you have more than one of these machines now, or are you dead in the water right now ??

There are other AFP machines on the production side but this was only R & D machine.
Edit: I take that back, we also have a robotic AFP machine that's still in the development stage.

They gave us a date of April 30th to be up and running. We think that's optimistic. Right now they're waiting on parts.

They'll make the date, no problem. April 30 comes around every 365 days.
If they can't make one, they are sure to make the next.

Given the short lead time for repairs, I'm guessing they found no structural damage???

I guess so. I don't know what parts they're waiting for. They have boxes of new rails and bearings sitting around. It looks like those have all been replaced.

Just poking my head in here, this reeks of naivete from all parties. Did nobody look at any kinematics of this operation at all? Singularity and rotary parallelism is pretty apparent in the programming stages. If you look at tool axis at all, you will see a very vertical (or horizontal) tool axis.

It was a failure on all of our parts.
I will say that we were using a programming option that was added at the suggestion of the software vendor. I guess a singularity never crossed my mind,  I had only had to worry about it when working with robots.

Mechanics are finished putting the pieces back together. Now it's the electricians' turn.

Well, we're going to be back making a part this afternoon.
