Anyone experiencing gas shortages right now? Seeing a bunch of the southeastern states are in a state of emergency with no gasoline to be found.

A ransomware attack has shut down a regional pipeline

It's not a gas shortage it's a "supply crunch".   According to the morons in D.C.

both the tanker driver shortage and the pipeline being shut down.  Too bad we can't build more pipelines.

Now how would that help. More pipelines coming from the same refinery that is shut down because of being hacked would only result in more pipelines being shut down.  Better to be able to switch it over to manual and have a person there on the phone.

"Okay turn it on now Bob."
"That's enough, turn it off."

Oh, my bad, that would mean hiring someone.

I filled my pickup up yesterday after work but the price was up to $2.929. It was $2.879 on my way to work.

What this really comes down to, is that people have been paying ransoms, thereby encouraging more ransomware attacks.  There needs to be a total ban on paying ransoms, no matter what.  That's the only way to make this "business model" unprofitable.

Its the same as toilet paper last year. Someone sees someone buying buying a bunch, so they buy too...someone sees them, etc, etc.
Thing is modern ethanol gas doesn't have a very good shelf life. Unless they are dumping in a bunch of fuel stabilizer in each can, they will risk fucking up their engine when they try to use the fuel in the future.

I have been trying to increase my protein intake to match my workouts. Since I only eat plants that means more beans and lentils. No shortage of gas here.   :w00t:

I did see that 70% of gas stations in the Charlotte NC area are out of gas. That is scary. Imagine needing to go somewhere important, like the doctor or other emergency, and not having enough gas to get there and not being able to buy it.

We're going to have to start filling up when we're down to 3/4 tank.

It's unfortunate that Price Gouging is perceived as being a bad thing when it should be celebrated.

If prices at the pump suddenly spiked to $10/gallon or more, it would discourage people from hoarding, incentivize finding new sources of the product and protect the remaining supply.

It's called the Free Market. We should give it a try.
