Needed gas in the daily driver... here in the People's Republik of Kommieforniastan at my local Costco. I was talking to one of the attendants he told me yesterday they were only 2,000 gallons off a record day. He said today was way busier than yesterday. At the time I went on any other day there'd be no wait or maybe a few minutes. Cars were lined up. Took 30min to get filled up.

People need to turn off their TV's. Idiots. CLEARLY they cannot think rationally about anything.

On a normal fill up day, I'll see maybe 1 person filling up a gas can. Today I saw 5 people filling up various non-approved gasoline storage containers and gas cans. No plastic bags. I think the attendants were watching for the egregious stuff. I'm down to just a little in my lawnmower gas can. I think I can fill up my lawnmower 1 more time. I'm gonna wait. Hopefully the dumbasses don't burn down their neighborhoods.

Of course it was the Russians that did this  /s

Something isn't passing the smell test, if you were to hold an oil company hostage and demand a ransom, why the hell would you set the amount to a paltry $5million?

it's not an oil company, it's a company that owes and operations a pipeline.

the key to successful encryption blackmail is to set the price at something they can pay.
If you make it too expenses your victim will say F it, format C: and build their networks over

Because they wanted to have a hope of free money. $10,000,000 and they woulda got nothing for their effort.
