I have to ask.  Is this excessive?  The lady was being pulled over for speeding. Didn't feel comfortable pulling over with a narrow shoulder.  She followed State law - slowed down and put her hazzards on to signal that she was looking for a safe place to stop.  The Patrolman pit maneuvered the car causing it to crash and flip upside down.

Seems like a legit lawsuit to me.

Quoten July 2020 Nicole Harper was driving home on I-67/167 outside Jacksonville when Senior Cpl. Rodney Dunn clocked her speeding.

Dunn says she fled, Harper clams she was trying to find a safe place to stop on a section of interstate that has a reduced shoulder.

Dash camera video from Dunn's patrol car showed Harper pulled into the right lane, slowed down, and turned on hazards.

Less than two minutes after turning on his blue lights, Dunn performed a PIT maneuver, which caused Harper's car to crash into the concrete median and flip.

lol.  no.  I'm not nearly as anti-cop as Matt. I know quite a few people who are.

When I read this story, this sounds like something that my girlfriend would do.  She would go full on anxiety attack trying to pull over on a narrow shoulder. She would keep going until she found what she considered a safe place to pull over.  I could easily see this happening to her in the same scenario.

Too bad something closer to this didn't happen?

I wouldn't want to be a cop.

After turning on his lights to signal the car to pull over, the vehicle continued for what the story describes as "less than two minutes", so let's assume more than one minute.

A lot can happen during that time.

Was the operator loading a weapon? Calling a friend for an ambush?  Was the driver unable to stop due to mechanical errors? Or incapacitated?

It's easy to judge when all the facts are known, but the details are much more blurry when attempting to pull someone over at night.

Not saying the cop was right, just I'm glad I don't need to deal with people.

I'm sure that it's worse in this past year due to the anti-cop sentiment that's become so popular.

I wouldn't want to be a cop right now.

Some cops will ask you to do that; find a well lit, safe place to pull over.  Others will fuck your shit up if you don't slam on your brakes the moment they flip their lights.

In other cases, two cops will be yelling at you simultaneously, one to put your hands up, the other to put your hands behind your back.  The one you don't obey will feel justified in shooting you, and then take disability payments for PTSD for the rest of their life.

And some people just hate all cops

Jim at Gentex

Seems to me that the Trooper was overly aggressive in this case.
The video shows there was a narrow shoulder with a concrete barrier to the right, so I don't blame the driver for not wanting to pull over there.
A reasonable person would conclude that he could have waited a few more minutes for either an area with a wider shoulder, or the next exit ramp to allow the driver to pull over safely.
She did slow down and put on her hazard lights, so I don't think he can make the case that she was attempting to flee.

He will have to answer for his actions, and a jury will decide whether or not he acted inappropriately.
That's how the system works, regardless of what we think.

There was absolutely no reason for him to pit maneuver that vehicle. She wasn't putting anyone in danger. She wasn't speeding and trying to get away. She did everything that she was supposed to do according to (from what I've read) State law.

I'm just glad that car wasn't full of children or old people.

More cops carelessly raid wrong house (this keeps happening), all get qualified immunity:

The rest are named Matt.
