Fortunately the bad guy couldn't shoot.
Considering the weapon he was using and the complete surprise of his ambush he should have killed
both of the cops.

I'm surprised this hasn't been all over the media for cops executing an unarmed black man, he clearly wasn't armed anymore after he ran out of ammo and had to resort to beating the cop over the head with his pistol.

the guy had already fired 30 rounds at the cops wounding one of them
now he's got the wounded cop on the ground, beating him with the pistol.
By any stretch of the imagination, this was a deadly assault and using deadly force
to stop it was fully justified.

no, no, that can't be right, he was an unarmed black man executed by police.  The poor guy was just minding his own business when the cops profiled him and shot him in the back.

the guy was a career criminal with a long history of violence.
in fact, he was out on bond awaiting trial on fresh charges of multiple armed assaults.
As the used to say in the old West, this guy needed killin'
If anyone is responsible for his death, it is the dead man himself and the idiot who set him free on bond.
Had he been in jail where he belonged, he would still be alive.

oh but I'm sure he was awaiting trial for something he was arrested for because he was black.

in case it isn't obvious, I'm being completely sarcastic in my comments.  The guy got what was coming to him and shouldn't have been on the damn streets.

all I saw was a thug with a AR-15 pistol
fortunately, he had zero clue how to run that thing
someone competent with that weapon would have killed both of those cops
5 seconds into that shoot out

 Yep.

Generally speaking I tend to prefer people get their due process in courtrooms, however, when you pull guns on people, justice tends to arrive a little quicker in most circumstances. Somewhere around 1,100 feet per second depending... but, when people make choices that will bring about that swift justice, I don;t lose a bit of sleep because they brought it on themselves by their own poor life choices.

I just want to know where the heck these people are getting their ammo.  There certainly isn't much in stores.

Poor guy must have been deaf too, those short barrels are freaking loud.  I shot 6 or 7 deer with mine last fall.

I accidentally left my ear pro off (actually on, but just above my ears so not protecting) and shot my unsupressed .30-06  once. My ears rang for a week. Another time, I was the RSO for my scout troop, I called "Range is Hot". I was standing next to and behind my .338 Lapua Magnum and it got shot before I had my ear pro on fully. Ears rang for over a week. That gun leaves about a 190 dB signature.

That said, everyone should fire their handgun once to know what it sounds like without ear pro. Of you ever get in a situation that involves a firefight, you don't want to be surprised. JM2CFWIW

After firing my .357 revolver one time without ear protection, I'm convinced that Dirty Harry, with his .44 mag, was deaf as a stone.
