I know that there are some problems with shipping right now. Driver shortages and what not.

Every single time I have something shipped through FedEx, it's either late, gets lost, gets shipped to the wrong address, sits in a truck for a week waiting to be unloaded, left in a warehouse for a week, etc etc etc.

Is it just FedEx?  I think that I'll be doing what ever it takes to get my stuff shipped by someone else.  They've been horrible.

I've always had more problems with FedEx than the other shippers (including the USPS). I've paid extra for stuff to ship something other than FedEx.

I suspect that it's because most of the drivers are getting old and are starting to retire or get ready to reach retirement age.  Youngsters don't see that as being a desirable job (shit pay and benefits) so aren't getting in to the trade.

Try Pirateship.com, I've been using them for a few years now and the price has always been great. They were only USPS until today they announced UPS is now available. No membership or account requirements either.

Really? I've always heard that UPS was a good job to have. I'd think similar companies would have to have competitive pay and bennies.

With that said, I agree that FedEx sucks. My wife recently started ordering from a company online who seems to have some kind of agreement with FedEx. Even though the returns get dropped off at the post office, they always end up back in the hands of FedEx. It's not uncommon to take 2 weeks to get a package 5 states away.

I have a couple of friends who worked for UPS. They seemed to do pretty well for themselves.  They are retired now.  I also have friends who currently work for FedEx.  I don't talk to them about FedEx. :D  They hate their jobs.  I don't know if it's a company culture difference?

If you look at the pay grades inside of FedEx, their warehouse workers don't make squat. They are having a hard time filling any position that requires work for little pay. That's what I've been reading at least.

I've have very few issues with UPS. It always seem to be FedEx and it's pretty consistent.  This time we're waiting for parts from Mori. Don't get me started on Mori's customer service.    probably not something I should talk about on a public forum.  Anyway, the parts were shipped last week. They were supposed to be here yesterday.  If you look at their tracking page they never made it out of Texas and are stuck at one of their hubs.  We have a machine down waiting for these parts.

This is the only information shown on their tracking page.

Have you tried calling them to find out what is going on?  The customer service people should be able to access much more information than what you will get from their website.

FedEx sucks in my experience as well.

My wife recently ordered a futon for our spare bedroom that was delivered via FedEx.
It arrived a week later than expected, and one whole side of the package was damaged.
Sure enough, the item inside had a big rip in the same place as the damage on the outside of the package.

She called and had it returned, and when she re-ordered the same item she specifically asked for UPS or USPS delivery.
A couple of days later, UPS delivered the new one and it was fine.

And that's only the most recent example.
I can think of at least 3 or 4 times over the past few years where a FedEx delivery was late, damaged, or lost.

I also know someone whose house was robbed, and a FedEx driver was a suspect.
A co-worker of mine lives in a pretty remote area.
His wife came home from work one day and found the house had been ransacked, and they realized that cash, jewelry, electronics, and 2 handguns were stolen.
They found a basement window in the back of the house was broken, and the back door was left unlocked.

His neighbor said she noticed there was a FedEx truck in his driveway for what she said seemed to be alot longer than just to drop off a package.
She also thought it was odd that the truck was backed into the driveway close to the house, but she looked again later and it was gone so she didn't think much of it until she found out later the house was robbed.
People out in the country tend to look out for one another, and this neighbor told police that the FedEx truck was the only vehicle she saw there all day.

There was a FedEx package on the front porch that was time-stamped as delivered at 11AM that same day.
Police obviously questioned the driver.
He said he did deliver a package to that address at 11AM, then he parked right there in the driveway and decided to take his lunch break.
He said it appeared as though nobody was home, but he didn't see anything unusual.

Since the police didn't find any hard evidence like fingerprints to connect the driver to the robbery, they couldn't charge him.

All that to say yeah, FedEx sucks.

I've used FedEx for my McMaster orders for the last couple of years and they've always been next morning except for the last couple of months.  Now every single shipment is "potentially delayed" and takes 2-3 days.  It's really pissing me off lately.

I had a package that is supposed to be delivered to my house.  The package is already almost 3 weeks late.  I saw yesterday that it was on a truck out for delivery so I thought "finally".  It never showed up.  lol.  I looked this morning and its back at the facility and never made it back on to a truck for delivery.  What in the actual F is going on with that company.

About ten years ago we needed a part asap for one of our horizontals. It was shipped Fed Ex from Chicago in the middle of a heavy snowstorm. The next day they called saying that they won't be out due to the snow storm so we ordered another one through UPS. We got the UPS delivery the next day and it was another two days when Fed Ex brought in the first order. They were told to send it back.

I had a package spend a month on a truck "out for delivery"
I called Fedex Customer support a half dozen times over it.
I finally cancelled the original order, had the new order shipped UPS and received it the next day.
4 months later I got an email from Fedex asking me to take a survey about my Customer Support experience
I was not kind when I filled out the survey
3 days later this beat to shit package showed up.
Amazingly enough the contents were still in good shape.
