I don't know if you guys have read atlas shrugged by Ann Rand or seen the cheesy movies they made of it but its a great read .


seems they powers that be are using it as a guide line instead of a warning though  .
this article sounds a lot like total government control is in sight on the horizon .

I have read it, and seen those movies too. They're very good.

I also watched Ayn Rand on The Donahue Show as a kid. You can still see them on Youtube. I think she was on Donahue twice. Her philosophy is even more relevant today than it was then. Check them out sometime.

I was mesmerized at how she sat there with an entire audience against her, and answered every liberal/socialist question with logic and common sense... and she made them all look like fools... just by illustrating how collectivism is a proven evil.

Her philosophy is fascinating... except for her atheism... I never got that at all.

I disagree that today's liberal/progressive/collectivists use her novels as some sort of a guide.
I don't think they've ever read her books at all... although it's easy to see why you think that... because today's politicians SEEM to be following the ideology of the foolish government authoritarians in her novels.

It's no coincidence that they are mimicking the Marxists in Ayn Rand's novels... because they are actually Marxist themselves of various levels, of course, whether they know it or not.

They ( collectivists ) think of themselves as caring people, as they tout and push their government pet-programs on people... but in reality... they are leading society to they inevitable conclusion of totalitarianism and tyranny.

Authoritarianism is unavoidable once collectivism is seen as a positive... it's incremental... and it's just a matter of time. ( Emphasis added !!! )

It is, after all, what Rand was warning about... and she had first hand knowledge too, as she grew up and lived under socialism/Marxism.

Great books and good movies too.

You should check out The Fountainhead. They made a movie about that too... black and white oldie if I recall, but still watchable if you like her philosophy of innovation and freedom.
