I'm shopping for a new PC for Mastercam.
What's the top dog out there now?
Also, what Graphics card? (not the $10,000 nvidia) :ice:
I run 3 monitors (currently 23's) looking to upgrade those also.

I assume as much high speed RAM as you can stuff in it....

Lay it on me..... :unworthy:

How much are you  looking to spend, cause that has a lot to do with which brand,I had a similar thread a while back that a few people weighed in on as well,

I bought one of these a couple of months ago
Overclockeck to 5.3 ghz
https://www.boxx.com/systems/workstations/s-class/apexx-s3">Boxx S3 Apex
It took a month to arrive because Quadro RTX 4000 video cards were back ordered
Now they don't even offer that card
The RTX 5000 and 6000 are way too much $$$$ for me
The RTX 4000 is still available though
https://www.newegg.com/pny-vcqrtx4000-pb/p/2VV-000K-000T1?Description=Quadro%20RTX%204000&cm_re=Quadro_RTX%204000-_-2VV-000K-000T1-_-Product&quicklink=true">Newegg
They are over $1K now... I paid $780 for one 18 months ago.

This is the best PC I've ever used.
If I was buying today I'd buy another one of these, less the video card and
install an RTX 4000 myself

Not sure if they still do, but back in the day when I started using them, they were building workstations for Pixar.

I was feeling bad about spending $4k on a box. Dude said, I don't wanna make you feel like you're buying junk, but what you're buying is pretty low end for us.

Overpriced, yes   junk, no
We've got 10 of them here, the oldest is 9 years old.. to date there have been zero issues.
The two I have at home, I bought stripped down and added hard drives, video cards and ram myself.

Pixar is owned by disney now, their animation was ahead of it's time when I was growing up.

Yup.
It's like the old guy who used to build racecars to run on one of our local dirt tracks.

He always used to say: "Speed costs money...so how fast do you want to go?"

This machine is running the Benchmark 3.0 in 3:10 even with all the crap our IT department loads
on it.
Back in the day a good time for Benchmark 1.0 was under 10 minutes and that was a much simpler file.
We've come a long way.

Oh definitely.
But you still gotta pull out your checkbook, as always, to make that happen.
All that changed is the number of zeroes on the check.

I don't know
Back in the day I paid $4K for hot a hot gaming  rig ( a 386 turbo with 4 meg of ram) with THE  latest greatest video card. $4K was serious money back then.  That machine was obsolete 2 months after I bought it.
At least the machines today have a longer useful life.
My 2 home machines are 2 and 5 years old.
The machine I ran here at work was 7 years old and still doing the job when I talked them into replacing it
