One of my co workers lives in a brand new housing trac up in the hills (85 homes)
Two families own Telsa's and have Telsa charging stations in their garage.
A third family just bought a Telsa, but the power company would not allow the
installation of a charging station.... they said the housing trac's power supply
cannot handle 3 Telsa charging stations

Yep.
That's one of the dirty little secrets the electric car folks don't want to talk about.

I read somewhere that if even 25% of drivers in the US traded in their gas or diesel vehicle for an electric one, the power grid wouldn't be able to handle it.

And this is the State that is going to ban gas powered cars in 2035?    I wonder how that's going to work out.

Didn't Washington state ban the sale of gas powered cars starting in 2030??

Yes..  Of course Washington had to try to one up California.   I'm sure that lawn mowers and leaf blowers will be coming soon now that they are banned in Cali.

I've been wondering what their plan is for all of the poor people who live in rural neighborhoods in large apartment complexes who don't have the option of installing charging stations.  Not that they would be able to afford the electric car in the first place.

The average US house uses about 30kWH of electricity a day. A tesla battery is 80-100kWH. Some of the higher amperage chargers need 90 amp circuits. I have heard of people trying to get large electric tankless water heaters installed and having the power company not approve the upgrade to the incoming power.

my co worker said the fast Telsa chargers need a 100 amp power supply
A local shopping mall just put 20 Telsa chargers in, right in the best part of the parking lot.
Every time I've been there, 70 to 80% of them are in use.
I'm thinking the people who live in the nearby apartment complexes are using them to charge their
cars, cause they can't do it at home.
They are not free, it takes a phone app to run the charger and pay for your juice.
I wonder how much it costs to top off a Telsa at one of these parking lot chargers??

I also wonder if they are paying market rate for the electricity they are buying
or are long suffering tax payers subsidizing this to hide the true cost of our
fabulous green paradise.
