I'm not one for gun regulations, restrictions, and confiscations, however it seems like if we just took away guns from democrats gun violence would drop drastically. From dem stronghold inner cities to trans/antifa mass shooters, it seems the most of gun violence these days is a Dem problem.

Ah, the old 4chan edgelord gag. His fedora will surely doff for an eternity now.

I'm thinking there's a copycat element to the inscription on unspent ammo thing. There have been a few mass shooters that wrote memes and slurs on their guns, Christchurch mosque and the Buffalo grocery store shooter come to mind first. The Tyler Robinson seemed a little forced to me, I didn't buy it. Yes, just because a picture exists, doesn't mean it is truthful and accurate. This one is either a copy cat of that, or manufactured noise to make Robinson seem more organic. Not sure how many shooters have written messages on ammo. Anyone remember if the Vegas guy left messages?

Since Jahn didn't attack ICE officers, it's conceivable that he was a plant/patsy. Take out a few undesirables, stoke the flames, and have someone expendable with a proven alt-right history to fall back on.

Facts are stupid

QuoteTOPLINE A new study published in Journal of the American Medical
Association's Surgery found that firearm deaths are more likely in
small rural towns than in major urban cities, adding to research
that contradicts common belief that Democratic blue areas have
higher incidences of gun-related deaths than do Republican red
districts

I don't doubt what he is saying there. When I do prison ministry, one of the things that I'm always struck by is the irrationality of some of the violent offenders. who on one hand oppose some political candidate but then when you listen to what they hate about that candidate, you will walk away thinking, they were so "all over the place" that it really makes no sense. Things like they don't want the government interfering with their lives but they also want government handouts, or they hate flag burners but also want to blow up the capital building and white house and start over. or another one I see is that they will at one point refer to a politician as Hitler and at the same time want to rid the world of the Jews. some of it leaves you with the deer in the headlights look

So what he is describing wouldn't surprise me one bit. I just wish, that, when you see violence that comes from the right, the same writers would look at those guys and not jump to, "there is soooo much racism on the right"

Interesting how that report keeps saying Republican gun murders but then when they actually list the numbers they subtly change it deaths by gun, AKA include suicides. When you remove suicides from gun death rates inner city violence takes the lead.

that is interesting. I noticed in that study that the homicides were higher in the cities but the suicides were higher in the rural areas. And when you say gun-related deaths, that lumps them together. I'm curious about your thoughts on how to remove guns from people who are suicidal or have suicidal tendencies, especially in light of the fact that transgender people are said to have a higher suicide rate than the general poplulation suicide rate. to be more direct, should we remove guns from households who have a transgender person living there?

Severe mental illness should preclude gun ownership. Hot take, I know.

Nope.
Removing guns from any household would start a massive chain reaction.

Jeff

Step one:
Disbar any judge that lets criminals out on cashless bail or too light of a sentence for major crimes.
This would lower the crime rate a bit.

Step two:
Make mental asylums great again.
This would lower the crime rate even more.

Step three:
Fire any teacher that indoctrinates students of any age with their ideology.
This will prevent some future crimes.

Step four:
Remove all forms of social media for at least 1 year. (wishful thinking I know).

would you say then, that if a person is transgender the guns should be removed from their home to prevent suicide?

How bout promote gun education including safety and sporting use.

turn competition shooting into national or even world wide sport like NFL, NBA.

I know this is a stretch and surely would not be for all but this closet shooting sport surely isnt working too well.

The parents must make that choice because ultimately their child and home are their responsibility and need to be held accountable.
If there are no parents and that person lives on their own, then it is what it is.

Yes, that would be my preference. Just as they should be removed from a schizophrenic, someone who dissociates, or someone who is severley BPD. These are folks who cannot stop themselves from harming themselves or others. The key: when you can't stop yourself from infringing on someone else's right to be alive, that - for me - supersedes rights to possess an object.

Mechanism of action? Difficult at BEST in practice.

Thinking about it more, they'll just use a knife or other weapon... I like Jeff's step #2, make asylums great again!

If we allow any reasonable gun confiscation, even when completely rational, it will end up being abused. You can be sure a Kamala/Hillary/Pete/etc. admin would send out their alphabet troops under the guise of "public safety" to collect the guns. We need to go the other way. Constitutional carry should be the law of the land. At any time a bad actor thinks about committing a violent crime they should be aware that many of the citizens around them are armed and will act if necessary. If the other four people on that train were most likely armed the odds of the Ukrainian girl getting stabbed in the neck on the train go down considerably.

IMO the answer is more guns in the hands, hips, or pockets of law abiding citizens to protect themselves.
