I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

If we call and he answers, does that mean he was left behind?

Personally, I am in the "The Bible is the inerrant Word of God" camp.

The "rapture" is a somewhat complicated subject that has a number of differing views/opinions.

One's opinion on the subject does not determine the state of their salvation and is somewhat unclear about the specific event so therefore I do not have a strong opinion on the subject other than it will happen..

That said,
Quote1 Thessalonians 4:16 ESV
[16] For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

There are other verses that make mention of the event.
QuoteMatthew 24:40 ESV
[40] Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left.
[41] Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left.

I was just curious. Growing up I went to evangelical churches and as an adult I've gone to a Methodist church. I don't really fit in to either.

Go where they teach the Word of God line upon line, precept upon precept. It takes "man" as far out of the equation as possible.

I don't really fit in any of those places either.  I fit best where the Study of His Word is paramount. That's just how my mind works.

There are plenty mentions in the Bible that all will not be revealed to us. For those who think that they can predict what GOD is going to do is laughable. Anytime someone says they see indications of end times, I just roll my eyes. It will be a surprise.

My thought is that I try to be the best person I can. I follow the teachings of Jesus the best I can. I don't think much of heaven or hell or the end times; I'm too busy trying not to mess up this life any more than I already have. Also, I don't think God wants us to live in fear of retribution when we die.

Both can be true; seeing the very thing scripture describes, and it will be a surprise. I think the Bible is crystal clear on the surprise part.

Human pride weighed you down so heavily that only divine humility could raise you up again. ~Augustine of Hippo

The son of a family friend slit his wrists and died Saturday morning. His name was JB Heaton. over the course of his life, he had been a college law professor for Chicago school of law, worked in some big law firms in chicago and was also a financial advisor for some big companies. His dad is a man of great faith and he and I have worked in the prison ministry together along with many other ministries. His dad is the Godfather of both of my children. JB rejected his dad's faith and his dad has such a tender heart and he never quit trying to show his son God's love. He moved from a small town in Illinois to Chicago to be close to him after retirement.

In recent times, he fell into despair, and everything that he had put his faith in eventually left him. He lost his job,  wife divorced him, and his bitterness caused his children to distance themselves from him. His dad stayed by his side and offered him to come live with him. He kept saying come to church with me, let's pray together. 3 weeks after moving in, he cut his wrists in his dad's spare bedroom and died.

I probably spend too much time on here talking about my faith, but I worry about friends who seem to be full of despair and want to bring hope.

The world is full of despair and it seems as though it's only growing worse.

We're more "connected" today than at any time in human history, yet we've never been so alone. Once thriving civic and fraternal organizations now sit nearly empty. A shadow of their days gone past. Once lively, energetic churches... community/neighborhood hubs of activity and assistance have more empty pews than ever.

My nephew jumped from a water tower back in July and killed himself. He was only 30 and in despair from a divorce. I have been devastated ever since that I couldn't help him.

Does David Grusch have anything to say about this?  Sounds like alien abduction to me.  Hope they don't end up with 20ft satellite dish deploying out their a$$.
