QuoteThe Biden administration's FBI appears to have spied on eight GOP senators during its sweeping anti-Trump probe related to the January 6th Capitol riot, a new disclosure shows.

The GOP senators impacted were Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Josh Hawley (Mo.), Dan Sullivan (Alaska), Marsha Blackburn (Tenn.), Bill Hagerty (Tenn.), Tommy Tuberville (Ala.), Ron Johnson (Wisc.), and Cynthia Lumms (Wyo.), according to an FBI document released Monday by Senator Chuck Grassley (R., Iowa).

The document lists the eight senators and Representative Mike Kelly (R., Pa.) and is dated to September 2023. It was part of the FBI's sweeping "Arctic Frost" investigation into President Donald Trump's role in the January 6th, 2021, Capitol riot. The anti-Trump probe was part of former Special Counsel Jack Smith's D.C. case against Trump.

Then there was this, lest we forget. While Taibbi was testifying to congress about the weaponization of government, IRS officials showed up at his house, unannounced. They opened an investigation on him on a saturday that just happened to be Christmas eve.....what IRS agents work on saturday of christmas eve?????

https://www.wsj.com/articles/irs-matt-taibbi-twitter-files-jim-jordan-daniel-werfel-lina-khan-84ee518?gaa_at=eafs&gaa_n=ASWzDAh2yZznky7eIcn64IIvou4Iw4gcVcdHw-vNqSqNGtIVZReM8LRA-kNwFojstLI%3D&gaa_ts=68e51bf4&gaa_sig=BMrcFqjc5B7RwuruLzCp4N-dYcc-4FCuu8HN0NXFHJM9FEPkB4Rncc76gPAN-c5rLBZZqWlVfi7DbihA5y3f2A%3D%3D

QuoteThe IRS really must have wanted to investigate Matt Taibbi, the Twitter Files journalist.

Records produced to Congress show that the tax agency opened an examination of Mr. Taibbi's 2018 return last Christmas Eve — a Saturday, no less — according to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan.

The records also show that Mr. Taibbi was able to resolve the tax issue quickly, did not owe the IRS anything and in fact was due a "substantial refund," Mr. Jordan said Wednesday in a new letter demanding answers from the bureau.

The IRS opened its probe of Mr. Taibbi just three weeks after he published his first Twitter Files account of government officials colluding with Twitter to shut down voices of dissent. Mr. Taibbi, who is far from a conservative journalist, quickly became a hero to the right and deepened a growing rift with those on the political left.

The IRS investigation struck a chord, with the Treasury Department struggling to explain why it sent an agent to make a house call at his home this year on the exact date that he was appearing before Congress to testify on his Twitter Files work.

Mr. Jordan said the IRS has failed to produce key records, but what it has revealed to the committee, with Mr. Taibbi's assent, is disturbing. Mr. Jordan said an IRS agent assigned to the case did extensive research before the home visit, including looking at his voter registration records, whether he had a concealed weapons permit and whether he had a hunting or fishing license.

"It has been 10 years, to the month, since Lois Lerner disclosed the IRS' infamous targeting of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status," Mr. Jordan wrote in a letter to the IRS on Wednesday. "The circumstances of the IRS' visit to Mr. Taibbi's home as he was testifying to Congress about government abuse and censorship raise troubling questions that demand additional information."

Yeah almost like when one side of the government wouldn't accept election results and initiated an insurrection... they may have needed to be kept an eye on.

well, I guess you might make that case but, don't be surprised then when a different administration is in power and they think their opponents need "kept an eye on".  Surely you are not so near sighted to see how that plays out in the future.

and then you still have to make the case for sending the IRS after a journalist who vehemently disagreed with the J6 fiasco simply because he was reporting on government corruption.

There was no insurrection. If there had been, more people would have died than an unarmed woman.

Stupidity and incompetence doesn't excuse their intent and actions. The J6 idiots were duped into believing the election was stolen, and they were not willing to let the legitimate results stand without a fight.

As far as the "unarmed woman" goes, that falls under the category of fuck around and find out. Every 2A nutjob on this board would relish at the chance to shoot dead some brain-dead lunatic climbing through their living room window.

Ah yes, the classic leftist talking point about how Joe Biden organicallymagically had a 5% higher voter turnout nationwide than peak Barrack Obama.

She wasn't climbing through anyone's living room window.

And, you don't have to be a 2A nutjob to think you would shoot someone breaking into your house. Would you just let them come in without trying to stop them?

That's funny. I heard it often repeated by those on the left. I suspect it's called projection by those in the psychology world.

Everyone I know who vigorously exercises their 2A rights, what you'd call '2A nutjobs', what I call friends, neighbors, and family members, dread the thought of ever having to use a firearm to defend themselves. A great many will admit that they're not even sure they could do it.

Personally, I'm pretty sure I could, 1000% sure if you throw my wife, kids, grandkids in the mix. No matter how much someone might have it coming, taking a life is something you have to live with for the rest of yours. Never mind the potential legal and financial ramifications. I don't know a single person who'd relish it.

That should keep the criminals away.

There it is. Maybe I misspoke when I said "every," but I was spot on with at least this 2A Nutjob.
