Riggers just finished bringing in a new Okuma MU-4000V 5 Axis. This is placed in an existing cell next to our Genos M460-5X machine to be tended by the same robot. The concrete guys are also here today tearing up the floor on the other side of the shop for a new 500mm horizontal with 16 pallet FMS that will be here in June.

New machine day used to be exciting. The machine today makes 10 machines in just over three years. New machine day now just means a bunch of work getting them set up.

Here is snap from our security camera of the 5x cell. The front machine is the Genos 5x (robot just finished loading a pallet). The back machine is the new MU-4000V. We only have about 60 of the 190 pallets ready to go. Lots of room to grow with this cell.

That's awesome Doug, well done! What brand safety caging you using? I like the look of that. I don't like all yellow (distracting) or all black (not obvious enough to be safe)

We just had a new machine day but I don't know if anyone here cares about large band saws

We use Velox Brand cages. They are made by Husky Wire and Rack. They are very reasonably priced and generally only 3-4 weeks lead time. https://getvelox.com/">https://getvelox.com/

I assume you got the Okuma with the optional Fanuc control?
😬

LOL, Getting an Okuma with a Fanuc control is like going to buy a new car and asking for an 8 track radio.  Why would you want to limit yourself like that. :wallbash:

In a shop full of fanuc machines, it might make sense, I personally didn't care much for the okuma controller, but I wasn't doing the stuff you are with it either.

Stll Fanuc is a good system, very powerful in the right hands, same as the okuma, wouldn't compare it to an "A-Track".

The last time we had new machines they came with a fadal controller. 😥

We don't want to start another Fanuc VS Okuma tit for tat.

LOL, you guys mean another round of me stating what I do with my Okuma control and asking how to do the same in a Fanuc, only to be told by numerous Fanuc AE's that it can be done they are not going tell me how because they will only share that info if I buy one. Bunch of effing Nancy's (Pelosi's), You have to buy it to find out what it can do.

I'm pretty sure people use fanuc controls for the same reason people like to hunt with black powder and recurve bows.
