Jeffries throwing it back at Republicans for shutdown. You know, if Obamacare is going to triple in costs without subsidies, then maybe they should come up with a better alternative. Throwing too much money at something is the Democrats way! They are definitely shutting the government down for this reason only. In my opinion, keeping the government running is THE most important issue. I don't see Trump or Republicans caving.

Well, happily, the Repugs are going to repeal the ACA and replace it with something better! :)

It's going to be great and it will be the best health care in the world! Bigger and better than the ACA and so cheap we can give it to immigrants, which we aren't going to have any of, unfortunately for them!  :hrhr:

Wait...that was in 2016. Regardless, it will be great and worth the wait!

I'll give you that the Republicans haven't offered anything better. That doesn't make the AFFORDABLE Care Act a good plan.

Obamacare should just be repealed and go back to the way it was before that abomination was passed.

Well, the the Repugs have already taken care of their big obligation, which is to give big tax breaks to the rich. Check that off the list.

They control the house, the senate, the executive branch, and the supreme court. Surely they have enough time to fix our healthcare system now.

I sure would like to see the Repug priority list. I wonder if health care is even on the list? :headscratch:

Public option. Or, we can continue to have the worst healthcare system in the world.

I feel like I've heard that somewhere recently.

what makes you think it will be better with republicans\democratics running it?

A healthcare system should not have profit as its number one motive.

We have public schools that do not have profit as their number one motive. And look at how far the reading and math levels are compared to schools that are "for profit."

Statistics, please.

The first one seems to be Peoria v. Illinois as a whole.  I don't see mention of private schools.
The second one shows a statistical difference in reading and math, but I'd be curious about science.
The third, a comparison of covid disruption, is interesting.

it is, but if you take a look at the numbers the are comparing dismal numbers to devastating numbers. We don't live in Illinois but I'm close to the border and have a lot of friends there. So that article got share a lot around me. It was one of the driving factors in my daughter's decision to homeschool her children.

As far as science goes, it would probably surprise you, the emphasis that a catholic school, for instance, puts on science. I can't speak for other denominations or charter schools.
