Quote from: Smit on October 21, 2025, 06:45 AMI expect so. Considering the Republicans we have on the Supreme Court I think there is a good chance they will take the guns from pot smokers.

Wanna place a bet?

I am betting that pot smokers win this case 8-1 possibly 9-0

I haven't paid attention to this since I posted the article back in June, so I don't know where it's at right now.  But this doesn't look good for pot smokers.

here is how it will go:
Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, Barrett: hard yes
Kavanaugh, Roberts: soft yes
Kagan, Sotomayor: soft yes
KBJ: conflicted, probably a no

Quote from: gcode on October 21, 2025, 07:12 AMI've never believed pot wasn't addictive.
I knew guys in the 70's and early 80's that were totally unable to function without a joint in the morning.
Whether it was a physical or emotional addiction was irrelevant. They were addicted and incapable of living a normal
life. They were really no different than hard core heroin addicts, same lifestyle, same problems, just a different drug.
That was me. 100% to the letter. I literally could not function unless I was high. I woke up in the morning, 1st thing I did was take a rip from my bong. I'd go take a shower, get out, take another rip. Get dressed. Eat breakfast. Go to school, smoke a full bowl before school. At break, another bowl, at lunch another bowl, afternoon break another bowl... etc...

The quantity varied, but on average, I was burning though an eighth every couple/few of days. I tried stopping on my own and could not. I voluntarily entered rehab as a 17 year old addict.

@SuperHoneyBadger the precise "addictive" nature of it (physical or emotional) was irrelevant. I could not function without it. I smoked so much weed, I did not have a clean UA for either 21 or 22 days. Back then, the norm was 10 to 14 days. After the 2 weeks I think, they thought I was still using and I could never be alone except to shower until I had a clean UA.

Those were dark days. I barely survived. And that was just the weed. All the other stuff I was doing just compounded the problems.

This sounds a lot like my teenage years. I would smoke a bowl on the walk to school. This was in the 8th and 9th grade. I would get high at lunch. After school.

I was selling pot at a very young age so always had access to it. I was never out.

This I have a hard time wrapping my head around. I guess drugs affect people differently.  I was able to easily quit when I'd finally decided that I had enough. There was nothing dark about those days. I probably could have accomplished more if I weren't stoned all the time, and I'm glad that I stopped at an early age. I've never been to re-hab in my life and I've been addicted to much worse than pot.

I did two things which worked in my favor.
1) I went to rehab. I learned everyday basic stuff that either I had forgotten, or I dunno... just ignored.
2) I moved. I went to go live with my grandparents 50 miles away. Only 2 of my friends even knew I was alive. I was there one day, gone the next without a word. I was so off grid to my friends, at the 10 year HS reunion, people I knew well looked at me and thought they had a ghost. They told me they "heard" I got hit by a car and was killed. They confused me with my friend which was just fine. Only my two best friends knew where I was and what the deal was.
