I'll be in San Diego for a long weekend starting this Saturday. I'm planning on going to the zoo, going to the Midway Aircraft carrier museum, and looking for other interesting stuff too.

Anybody got any ideas for really cool stuff in San Diego?

This reminds me of the time when I was leaving the parking lot, thinking my Mustang GT 5.0 was looking pretty good, when a guy named Blaise pulled in behind me in his brand new Corvette. Just sucked the air right out of my ego.

I'm going to Cleveland.

Have you been to the rock and roll hall of fame?

I went to San Diego in 2016. Visited the Midway, Zoo and the Air and Space Museum, which was really good.

Also visited Kansas City BBQ: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_City_Barbeque

Where the bar scenes for Top Gun were filmed :)
CNC Softwares own 'lil piece of Poison Ivy.
TopSolid for the Win :)

I would insist on a free company wide tour of Taylor Guitars. just sayin.

Yes. It was cool seeing stuff like the mixing console that was used on Jimi Hendrix records and stuff like that but, overall, I could take it or leave it. That's just my opinion. I've kind of had a grudge against them since they let in Hall & Oats.

I like some of Hall and Oates stuff.  :secret:

Leaving Jethro Tull out does seem rather egregious though.

We're flying in on the 1st and leaving on the fifth. My wife has a business thing and I'm just going along for the ride. I'm planning on the Midway for Monday and right now looking for something to do on Tuesday.

The air and space museum does sound intriguing. :)

Cool!  I'll send you a PM

Sunset cliffs is just nice to walk along, La Jolla the same although maybe you've probably snorkeled there before and the seals DO smell.

Cabrillo monument is pretty cool, you get a good view of the harbor / Coronado island and can sometimes see whales and dolphins.

Garnet Peak is 1hr out of the city but the drive alone to it is beautiful and it has a good little 45 min hike and the best view of the desert.

Or a day trip to Julian, cute town, nice drive, good apple pie.

There's a beer to be had in there somewhere if you're inclined

I got to see a lot of things and cover a lot of miles. San Diego Zoo on Sunday, it's obviously one of the iconic places in San Diego. That was a pretty full day, I thought it was great.

We did Balboa Park on Monday. Lots of beautiful architecture and gardens. The cactus garden was pretty awesome, the rose garden was impressive (I'm not a big flower guy tho), Museum of Natural history was alright, the Japanese Garden was very nice. The rest of the day we just wandered around the park and the city.

Tuesday I went to the USS Midway aircraft carrier museum. They did a great job of restoring it. I spent all day covering everything from the engine room to the island. 11 floors of museum. They had a lot of aircraft on the flight deck representing all the aircraft that have flown off the carrier. They were arranged from the earliest planes to the newest. It was commissioned in 1945 and decommissioned in 1992. Pretty amazing to me. 47 years in service with the upgrades that were made thru the years.

After the USS Midway I was able to meet up with Tyler for a few brews at one of the breweries in Little Italy, San Diego. Good brews and great conversation. Thanks for making the trip down to meet me! :)

Hate on the west coast all you want but there is no denying they brew some good beer there!

The wifes conference ended yesterday so we caught a late flight back to KC. I sure wish I'd had a couple more days in San Diego, I learned about a bunch of stuff to do I didn't know was there.

There is fantastic beer there!  I went to Camp Pendleton last year and had a good time.  Don't believe I could afford to live anywhere near there though.
